A Wolf I am

By Aljan Darkmoon  2008

My senses are honed from the wild

Stronger then any humans’

Many years ago, they were equal to us

But no more are they

Human eyes will never again be the color of ours

Bright as the rays of the sun

And keener then a blade’s edge

We are wolves…they are not

Legends say humans were once wolves or other animals

Such words are false

For humans kill all races, big and small, without a single thought

Every thought, action, and war are believed to for good through a human’s eyes

But they are wrong!

Instead of doing good, they destroy the earth

Bombs destroy life

Wars kill families

Such is the same for us, the wolves

Hunters kill us to rid of the ‘competition’ that they get

The governments lay bounties for our heads to lower the ‘danger’ level

Many of my friends, relatives, son, and daughters have died

And the humans say ‘animals’ can not feel love

They do not have a soul

They are beasts, who can be removed whenever and however

A wolf I am

I say again

A wolf I am!

Through the eyes of human I may be an animal!

But I live!  I breath! I love! I hate! I live!

Though there might be some humans who see us, the wolves, with the eyes of a wolf

We’ll always be shunned for a crime that we did not commit

Our children and children’s children will die and live in the coming years

All I can do

Is pray…that someday…the human race will have a change of heart…
