Chapter 1

Joy, a tawny colored she-dog, sighed. She was Kodi and Dusty's daughter. She didn't want a human, she was happy as a stray. Joy stepped between Balto and Steele.

"You two have hated each other forever now be friends," she said.

"Look who's talking, wolfdog," Steele muttered.

"Don't make me lecture you," Joy snapped.

"Whatever Peace Bringer," Steele growled, walking away. Joy snorted. Her best friend, Coal, walked to her. Coal was a handsome black boy dog with deep green eyes.

   "More peace?" he asked, skeptically.

"Come on!" she growled, playfully. "We need peace."

"Hmm," Coal said. "Well, if you say so."

"That one didn't end up in much peace though," Joy sighed.

   "I'm sorry," Coal responded.

"Let's go to the beach," Joy said. They walked to the long beach. Coal stopped and turned to her.

"Er... Joy?" he said.

  "What?" Joy asked.

  "Nah," Coal sighed. "Forget it."

"Come on," she urged. Coal glared at her.

"I SAID FORGET IT!" he howled, leaping at her. Joy's eyes widened and she scrambled back. Coal instantly relaxed.

"J-Joy, I didn't mean..." Coal began, paniky. Joy ran away from him.

"JOY!" he howled. Joy didn't stop. She reached her mother's house and scrambled inside.

"Mom!" she howled. Her mother appeared.

"Joy?" she gasped. Joy scrambled inside and colapsed panting.

"JOY! KODI QUICK!" Dusty cried. Kodi leaped over hte couch and looked at his mate and daughter.

  "What?" he asked.

"What the heck?" Aleu flew through the doggy door.

"You okay?" she asked the pale Joy. Joy swallowed hard.

"Coal, was about to say something and stopped. I questioned him then he yelled at me and lunged for me!" Joy panted.

Dusty was face to face with Joy.

"What did you say?" she growled. Joy sighed.

"I will NOT repeat it," she said. Kodi shook his head.

"Dusty, Aleu behind the couch I have to speak to you," Kodi announced. Dusty and Aleu followed him behind the couch.

"I think Coal loves Joy," he said.

"Hmm," Dusty huffed. "Funny way of showing it."

"That's what he almost said then he lost it when Joy tried too get it out of him," Kodi explained. Dusty scowled.

"I don't seem to remember you attacking me. All I remember is you almost dying," Dusty snorted.

"Dusty, remeber that kid..." Aleu began.

"I know," Dusty snapped. "Is half hyena but that's no exscuse to..."

"Dusty," Kodi sighed, "he was abused. You know that." Dusty glared.

"We'll go to Papa and Mom," Aleu said quickly. They walked back out from the couch and saw Joy was GONE! They ran outside to find a disturbing sight.

   Chapter 2

Joy stared helplessly. Steele was attacking Balto, Star was attacking Jenna, and Coal was attacking Dingo, her uncle! Dingo refused to fight and Coal continued to slash at him. Coal howled ever time Dingo dodged and just stared.

"Steele our hate isn't this bad," Balto groaned, as Steele pinned him down.

"Oh, yes it is," Steele growled grinning.

"Thanks for turning me on to this stuff, Grandpa," Coal said to Steele. Joy shook her head and ran in the middle of Coal and Dingo. Kodi ran imbetween Jenna and Star, while Aleu ran imbetween Balto and Steele. Dusty gaped ahead. More dogs were fighting and she ran to stop them. Joy stood over Dingo, sheilding him from Coal.

"Coal, this isn't you," she whispered.

"Now it is," Coal growled. "MOVE!"

  "No," Joy growled.

  "Now, Peace Bringer!" he spat.

"Joy, it's alright. I can take him," Dingo grunted, struggling up.

"NO!" Joy howled. "NO more fighting!"

"Not so wise, Peace bringer," Coal hissed, shaking his head. Joy didn't budge.

"Maybe it is. Maybe not," she hissed.

"MOVE!" Coal howled. "Before I lose my temper!" Joy laughed.

"You? How can you lose what you don't have?" she growled. "Go," she hissed to Dingo. Dingo ran to help Dusty. Coal circled her and lunged, teeth bared at her throat! Joy dodged and laughed.

"Watch your back!" a voice cried, barreling into her and throwing her to the ground.

"Steele you imbassal!" Coal yelled at his grandpa. "She was watching!" Balto, Jenna, and Kodi were high tailing it away and Aleu began to herd Joy after them. Joy ran after her family with her aunt behind her.

 Chapter 3

Aleu glanced at her neice. Joy was staring at the fighting from within the abandoned shed. Aleu lay down and whined. She had a nasty cut on her stomach. Aleu closed her eyes remembering.

---------------------------------------------------------------

It was early winter and Aleu was being shuned away from her home.

"She betrayed us!" her mate, Stone, howled. "May Aniu destroy her."

"KILL HER! KILL HER!" The chanting was unbarrable.

"I saved you," she cried. "I led you!"

"YOU ALMOST KILED US!" Sunset, her ex-best friend, howled.

"Look who's talking about betraying!" Aleu spat. "You mated with Stone behind my back!"

"He likes me not you and for good reasons," Sunset growled. Sunset was, of course, in on the plan. Aleu turned and ran across the ice bridge, knowing she was headed home.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Aleu rolled over. That was long ago. No use drewlling on the past. Joy walked to a stack of hay and collapsed onto it. She groaned as her body went straight through, landing on the hard stone.

Joy had never seen Coal like that before. She remembered when she met him...

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Joy was running from the fight she couldn't break up. She couldn't stand failing. She ran into a balck pup about her age. He looked up and stepped back. Joy felt a tear slide down her face.

"Are you alright?" the pup asked.

"I couldn't stop the fight," she whispered.

"Is that all?" the pup asked. "That's not as bad as my problem." Joy turned her head.

"You can't tell!" the pup said quickly.

  "I won't,"Joy responded.

"I'm half hyena," the pup whispered.

"I'm a quarter wolf," Joy said."I'm Joy, nickname,"

"Peace Bringer!" the pup cried. "I know all about you! I'm Coal." Joy nodded.

"Plesed to meet you," she replied.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Joy had stopped the fight with Coal by her side but this time, he wasn't there. He wasn't normal either. She must have hurt hm horribly and she called back his bit of insainess.

"JOY!" a voice cried. She looked around. Jenna was at the door of the shed, Kodi motionless by her side. Coal was standing over them.

Chapter 4

"Knock, knock," he chuckled. Aleu annd Dusty hurled themselves at him. He was knocked off his paws and Aleu and Dusty grinned at each other.

  "Pals for life," Aleu panted.

"You know it," Dusty grunted. They ran at Kodi, along with Balto.

"Er... guys?" Joy asked. "Help here?" Coal loomed over her.

"Peace Bringer can't fight?" he asked, in a babyish voice.

"She can!" Dingo was beside her. "But she shouldn't." Dingo whispered in her ear, "Go stop the rest. You can do it." Joy nodded and took off towards the other fights. She ran imbetween a smokey gray wolf and Kodi's friend, Kirby.

"STOP!" she howled. Kirby looked down at her.

  "Joy, GO!" he demanded.

"No, Kirby," she growled. "Not now." She jumped on top of a small shed.

  "LISTEN!" Silence followed.

"Look at yourselves," she growled. "You even have the pups fighting." Two pups let go of each other's ears. "Don't tell me "they're playing" 'cause they aren't! You know it! Kirby, you aren't blood thirsty and you Saba, you aren't one to start fights. Look at this! Look at yourselves!"

  Saba shoffled her paws.

"This is sad," Saba muttered. "My neice is wiser than me." Saba hopped onto the shed, as well. "She's right! We're fighting brother against brother, sister against sister! No more!" Rust and Splotch, Joy's aunts, stepped back from the fight and next to the shed. Saba jumped down to join them.

Then, Dingo, Aleu, Dusty, Kodi, Balto, and Jenna appeared, chasing Coal. Coal hurtled into Joy and sent her flying into the snow. He landed on top of her. Steele began to attack Balto but Balto stepped aside. Steele went for Saba instead and Saba fought back.

"Got you down," Coal spat. "Time to die."

"Kill me then," Joy hissed. "I don't care. Just don't rip yourself up inside." Coal's eyes widened. He stepped off of her and Joy stood up.

"I can't," he murmured. "Why don't you fear death?"

"War is worse," Joy replied. "Do wen have to end up like humans?" Coal shook his head.

"You're right," he murmured. "I care for you." Joy was shoked. Did she care for him like that? She did.

"So do I," she whispered. Steele stepped away from Saba. He glared at Coal.

"TRAITOR!" he cried, lunging at Joy. Joy seemed to be frozen but Coal flew infront of her and attacked Steele! Steele ripped at Coal's fur and Coal ripped at Steele's fur. Steele howled as Coal's jaws closed around Steele's neck. Steele lay on the ground.

"Traitor," he gasped. Then he fell limp. Coal panted heavily and Joy nuzzled him.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Joy and Coal grinned as Aleu smiled at her 5 pups, a year later. She had moved n with her life and had gotten with with a local wolf named Shadow. He was pitch black with dark blue eyes. Not only that but the white husky Dingo had loved fell for him and she was expecting pups any day. Hey, Aleu finnally found where she belonged and Dingo had a happy ending. What would have been a better time to find than a time for peace.

 THE END!
