An Race in Time

As dawn approached Nome in 1929 a year after the race with the pilot, Balto was thinking. Boris

was watching him seeing that something was different. “ Balto? Why us your head in the clouds?

” he asked. “ I’m just thinking how the other pups are. “ he answered while looking around. Boris

nodded, then smiled, “ Well all I know is that they are all fine. ”

Balto nodded and then said, “ I’m going to see Jenna now. ” He then ran into Nome. Jenna was

thinking while she saw Kodi coming back from delivering the mail. “ Hey mom where’s dad? I

gotta tell him who I saw at another town. ” he said looking around for his father. “ Well, I don’t

know where he is but he’s coming, I can feel it. ” replied Jenna smiling.

Then out of nowhere an red husky with blue eyes and almost looked like Balto came running. He

noticed Kodi and Jenna and came towards them. “ Hi mom! Hey Kodi! ” the husky said while

wagging his tail. “ Hi Zack, ” they both said at the same time. Finally Balto made it to Nome and

was greeted by everyone. Balto had spotted two of his sons and Jenna, he then smiled.

“ Hey, dad, guess who I saw. ” Kodi said in a excited and serious voice. Balto wondered who his

son saw. “ I saw your rival Steele over at another town. ” told Kodi. Balto was worried and

thinking at the same time. What if Steele had known that Kodi was his son. Zack being curious

and excited when to go see his friends who were watching a sled race. Then as he made it he went to their usual hanging out spot.

An cubby husky named Ivan. The other husky with patches of black known as William II and

Jake, the Shiba Inu. Zack smiled as he saw his friends. “ I can’t wait to see another exciting race

guys. “ said Jake wagging his tail. “ Well I wonder who’s racing? ” asked Zack interested.

“ Well it’s the great and beautiful Stella. ” answered Ivan as he made a sigh. William stared at

him and rolled his eyes out of annoyance, “ You know her father Steele, won’t let anyone touch

her. ” replied William, being smart as always. As it came to the mile marker everyone was


excited. Stella was in the lead excited about her victory. She was an champion dog like her father..

As Stella made it to the finish line the crowd gone wild. Zack stared at her, she had the same

markings like her father but her fur was brown, and she was really beautiful. Jake then started to

run as well as Ivan and William. Balto noticed Stella as well and he knew how she was, she

almost reminded him of Steele. Stella smiled as people cheered and patted her head. Ivan was

then bashed by a fully gray Alaskan Malamute. The dog then went by Stella.

“ Congrats on your victory Stella.” spoke the Malamute grinning. “ Well.....thank you Steven. ”

she replied thinking. Zack then went to Ivan to see if he was okay. “ Why does it happen every

time that any dog who goes to her that Steven bashes them. ” he yelled in anger.

“ Come on it’s not that bad, at least he didn’t harm you.. ” Zack said while smiling at his friend. “

Now that’s what I call entertainment. “ Spoke William grinning. “ Cut that out Will! ” said Jake,

since he hated arguments. “ Yeah Will stop it. ” said Ivan. “ That’s William to you Ivan! ” he
then started growling.

Zack now leaving because two of his friends were fighting accidentally slip on ice and started to

slide. As Stella was going to get her picture taken, Zack bumped into her, she then landed on a

tub of water. Steven was amazed at what happened.

Stella, now furious went up to Zack and said, “ What was that for? ” Zack just backed away and

grinned like his father. “ It was just an accident. ” Stella growled as she recognized the face, her

father remembered it very well. “ Yeah, right, ” Stella said as she left.

Steven noticing this had a plan and grinned about it. Steven ran to Steele and said “ Hello Steele,

I came to tell you what happened. ” Steele gave him the just spit it out look. “ Stella was

embarrassed because Balto’s son attack her. ” lied Steven looking serious. Steele growled, “ That

wolf dog’s son is harming her, well then I’ll get back at him if he goes over the limit. ” Steven nodded and left.

As Zack was thinking as Steven approached him. “ You know I can help you. ” spoke Steven

looking at him. Zack wondered what he meant. “ I’m sorry I should introduce myself. My name

is Steven and I’m an Alaskan Malamute. My occupation is moving dead animals. But I actually

hunt them. I hunt rabbits, caribou, deer, elk, goose, foxes, and especially.....wolves. ” told Steven

making the word wolves in a scary tone. Zack gulped because of fear. “ Now tell me about you? ” he asked.

“ Well....my name is Zack and I deliver supplies. My friends are Will, Jake, and Ivan. But my

main dog is Ivan. My personality is hyper, kind, and mainly brave. My favorite brother is Kodi.

Finally my parents are Balto and Jenna. ” he said.

Steven nodded and left. As he was walking he then said, “ It’s all according to plan. Soon you’ll

be mine Stella and mine.....only. This Balto is going to be hunted by me soon as I get close to
Zack. ” the then gave an evil laugh.

A Race in Time: part 2

As the next morning arrived Balto was already up waiting for Jenna but he heard an strange dog

approaching. “ What are you thinking letting your mutt son attack my purebred daughter. ” the

voice said while growling. “ Steele, I was wondering when you’ll come. You could just forget

about the race. ” Balto said back away while glaring. “ Forget about the RACE! NEVER!

Because of you I lost my fandom, I lost everything in Nome. I’ve even lost my precious Jenna.

Now I am in an new town with an show dog champion. ” replied Steele with his hate for Balto.

Balto sighed because he knew that Steele wasn’t going to forget. “ Steele before I go, I’ll just say

this. One day you and me might have to work together to save someone’s life. ” Balto then

walked away as Steele left growling at him. An gray malamute who looked like Steele came up

to him. “ Ah, my son, Tybalt you came. Make sure you watch Stella carefully. Don’t let that mutt

go near her. ” he said. Being protective towards her as always he nodded and left. Now Zack was

thinking because he kept on hear Steven’s words, “ I mainly hunt wolves. ” He felt worried

because Steven could kill Balto by mistake. “ Something wrong Zack, ” asked Balto coming up to him.

“ Well, no I was just thinking why do you and Steele fight anyway? ” he asked changing the

subject of his thoughts. “ Because he is still thinking that he’s the best and he won’t get over the

fact that I saved Nome. ” answered Balto looking at the sky and giving an small howl. Zack

smiled and howled as well. “ Well I have to go dad, but I will talk later. ” Zack said running. “

Where are you going? ” asked Balto confused now since that was an very short talk. “ I’m going

to compete in a race for fun. I am going to prove that I’m like you too. ” Zack yelled from an far
distance.

“ Kids, they always have dreams. ” replied Balto smiling. Zack came and smiled as he saw his

friends there cheering for him. Steven was there as well gazing about Stella, he then saw Zack

and greeted him. “ What brings you here? ” he asked thinking that mainly Balto would do this.

Zack grinned and said, “ I’m going to race. ” he started to wag his tail. “ You got a problem with

that Steven? “ asked William giving him an glare.

“ Well, at least my father didn’t let anyone down and leave his wife. ” replied Steven grinning.

William growled and walked away glaring. Zack wondered what that was about then noticed

Stella coming. Stella noticed that Zack was here, she gave him a glare and went to the starting

line. Steven and Zack did as well. But being with Steven made him feel uneasy. As soon as the

gun was fired the dogs started running. Stella was in the lead while Steven second place. He

grinned because he was behind Stella which made him feel happy. Zack started to catch up and

passed Steven. His friends wondered who would win this time. Steven growled because no one

passed him to get to second place before. Just then Zack finally passed Stella making her mad. “

You’re just doing this to make me look like a fool again. ” she said. “ No, I’m not. Your just too

stubborn to know about this.” replied Zack as he ran ahead. Stella growled and then noticed

something an iceberg was about to fall on her. Zack noticing this went backwards and pushed her

out of the way. He had just saved her life like his father would do. Stella shocked and amazed as

Steven won the race. “ Wh-wh-why did you save me? ” she asked confused. “ Even though you
blame me, it’s rude to see others hurt without doing a thing about it. ”

She just stared as he left in another direction. Instead of all the other dogs going to Steven they

went to Zack because he saved someone. Steven was made and growled for this. He then had to
make his plan come sooner than expected

A Race in Time:Part 3

Balto smiled and greeted his son, Zack. Making Kodi feel a little jealous because even the mail

dogs, Kirby, Ralph, and Dusty were amazed. “ That was awesome Zack. ” said Ralph happy and

excited. “ Yeah, you did really great saving a champion’s life. ” added Dusty smiling. “ Yeah,

that was amazing but if that was me it’ll be even better. ” replied Kirby. Kodi then said, “ Yeah,

that was great Zack for an beginner. ” Soon Zack’s friends arrived. “ Zack, this makes you even

better than Kodi, ” said Jake. “ I knew my best buddy could do it. ” Ivan said while standing

beside him. Kodi felt upset about that because he has done more than Zack. But Zack was faster

than him as a pup. Dusty then turned to Kodi, “ Something bothering you. ” Kodi stared at her. “

No just go visit you’re my great brother Zack, who is a hero for not even something big. ” he then

left. His friends stared at the leaving Kodi. Balto being a father went to go talk to Kodi. “ Kodi,

what’s the matter? “ asked Balto sitting beside him. “ It’s just that everyone thinks Zack is great

for saving some dog while I saved a life. ” Balto chuckled a little, “ I see well Zack never been so

happy for a good deed, even though they think Zack is great, there is probably someone who

thinks your better than he is. ” “ and that is......” replied Kodi.

“ Well I don’t know but you will find out later. ” replied Balto as he was leaving. “ Thanks...dad.

” replied Kodi smiling. Zack was now watching his friends play around. Ivan was running away

from William and Jake. Jake was trying his best to catch Ivan. He was new to his town and he

loved it. His master Mr. Yamaha came here for a chance to live in the beauty of Alaska. William

finally caught Ivan, “ See I told you I was more faster than you Ivan. ” “ Aw, come on, I beat you

in the first time. ” he said whining. “ That’s because I went slow for you. Come on Ivan, you big

baby. ” William said rolling his eyes. Zack then went up to Jake, “ Something wrong? ” Jake

shook his head, “ I was thinking of my home place, Japan. ” Zack nodded, “ So you’re homesick,

come on just stick to us and you’ll be fine all the way. Were like family. ” Jake smiled and had

tears in his eyes, “ Thank you Zack, you truly are a good friend. ” Zack smiled than noticed Balto

coming towards them. “ So you guys are having fun, I see for sure. ” Balto said, as he sat down.

“ Yeah, but I got to go check on something now. ” replied Zack as he left. Steven grinned and

went up to Zack. “ Zack, buddy I am hearing rumors of an dog attacking others. Don’t tell me

that it is you. ” replied Steven acting worried. Zack shook his head and left.

As he was walking he heard an strange noise in the bushes. It came out Stella, she looked at him

and said, “ I’m just here to say thank you. But why did you save me? Don’t you hate me for who

I am? ” “ No, I saved you because it isn’t right to see someone like you hurt. It doesn’t matter if

your Steele’s daughter. “ he answered. Stella, smiled and then said, “ Well, thank you. Even

though I am a champion it is hard to have some fun around here because people like me for what

I do not who I am. ” Zack smiled and said, “ Now she ain’t being stubborn. ” Stella growled and

started to chase him. Zack started to run grinning, he never had this much fun ever. Stella after a

while started to laugh, she never had fun at all because her father wanted her to train. After

awhile the two rested. “ Thanks for making me have some fun actually. ” said Stella sitting

down. “ Yeah, you seem like an great friend. ” replied Zack sitting as well. Stella smiled and then

said, “ So how does it really feel to be the son of a hero. ” shed asked curious. “ It feels great

but....hold on I have to get a drink. ” he said while leaving. As Steven saw this he glared but then

grinned because he got an plan. Tybalt noticed what happened and started to chase Zack. Zack

got scared and ran away, after a while he notice Tybalt was bleeding everywhere. “ Who did this
to you. ” replied Zack worried.

“ The person..who.....did....this....i...i....is..... ” before Tybalt could answer he died. Zack was

upset because he couldn’t save an life. Steven now over by Stella is saying, “ Stella! Come

quick! That mutt Zack has injured your brother Tybalt! ” Stella now worried follows Steven and

see Zack by the dead Tybalt. “ No! How could this be! Brother...no. ” she started to burst in tears

upset. Zack said, “ Stella...” Stella glared at him, “ So, you trick me by being a friend so you

could kill him, go away I never want to see your face again. ” Zack being upset ran away towards

the wild of Alaska.

The next morning the news of Tybalt’s death came and people were upset. Balto was upset, “ I’d

never knew you could do a thing like this. ” Jenna was there beside him trying to comfort him.

Stella was there thinking while laying down upset, she never felt this way. Steele heard the noise

decided to go over to get Balto. Steven now grinning as he heard Balto is going to find him went

after him. “ Now, when we are alone, you are going to die. ” he then laughed. Stella hearing this
went to go back to Nome to get help.

A Race in Time: part 4

As Stella made it in time she saw Ivan and his friends talking to Kodi. When they saw Stella,

Ivan gave out a glare, “ What do you want? ” asked Ivan making a glare. Kodi then went up to

her, “ What does the daughter of Steele want? ” Stella then put her ears down and said, “ I am

sorry but Steven lied to me. He killed him just so he can kill Balto. ” “ WHAT! ” they whole

group or Zack and Kodi’s friends said. “ Come on let’s go on by sled just in case Balto’s hurt. ” replied Kodi as he and the others went out.

As Balto notice Steven gone, he went on his own. Balto sniffed around the area and howled, he

then notice a wolf approaching him. “ Something wrong? ” the wolf asked noticing Balto was

howling. “ Yes, have you seen an red husky? ” asked Balto. “ Yes, I have. He’s been heading into

the middle of nowhere. ” the answered and left howling. Balto nodded and noticed fog looking
upset. “ mother...if....only you can help. ”

Kodi tried to look around as Stella was too. “ I don’t seen anything Will do you? ” asked Ivan. “

For the last time it’s William. ” he said. “ No time to fight, we have to find Zack and Steven. ”

replied Jake looking around. “ What if we don’t make it in time, ” spoke Ralph worried. Dusty

then smiled at Ralph and said, “ Don’t worry, we will make it like last time when we saved him,
right Kodi. ” Kodi nodded giving a smile.

Balto was now looking around and notice Steele. “ Steele, ” he said giving a glare. “ I am to get

rid of you once and for all. ” Steele then lunged him from the side. Balto then kept going back

until Steele fell from a cliff into the freezing waters of Alaska. Balto was now upset, “ I guess

you heart can never defeat the hatred you have inside of you. ” he then howled for Steele’s death.

As Kodi and the others heard Balto’s howl they started to race towards the sound. But then again

something jumped at Balto, it was Steele, “ I guess I win this time. ” before Steele can bite his

throat a mysterious dog bites Steele in the neck making him choke to death and hurt. “ Steven

why did you do that to him. ” replied Balto worried. Steven grinned as he showed his true colors.

“ Because I hunt wolves and you’re my next victim BALTO! ” Steven started to attack Balto

while looking really vicious. Balto attacked Steven. After moments of battle Steven bite Balto’s

leg and Balto fell. Steele then got up and attacked by he made Steele onto a tree. “ Stop it

Steven! ” yelled Stella yelling at him. Steven grinned and said, “ Stella my lovely Stella join me

and I will stop attacking them, if not then you’ll die as well. ” Stella then glared at Steven and

said, “ No, I won’t because I am my own person, and I never even loved you at all. ” Steven

barked and lunged her, suddenly he was attacked by another husky. “ Zack! ” said Stella happy

and worried. William and Ivan saw Steven’s lackeys coming and they started to attack them.

Kodi grabbed Balto first then Steele and the back so the can be carried to safety. Zack then

attacked Steven more. Finally Steven finally fell off a cliff, “ I’ll get my revenge on all of you,

especially you Zack. ” Stella was excited to see Zack so she licked his face. “ I thought you were

an friend, ” Stella sighed, “ yeah I am but the lick is just a sign that we are all glad that you are

safe. ” “ Zack, come on lead the way home. ” said Kodi smiling. Zack smiled and started to lead

the team home. As they went into Nome the towns people celebrated and patted Zack’s head,

they took Balto and Steele inside to check them out. “ You’re a hero just like your father you
two. ” an women said. Zack and Kodi smiled.

As the new morning came Steele already left and Balto was resting his broken ankle. Zack went

up to him. “ I see you saved me. It takes a hero to save another. ” replied Balto smiling. Zack

smiled back while wagging his tail. Ivan than said, “ We did it Will, we are heroes. We saved

Balto! ” “ Yes, we did Ivan and I am glad we have saved an soul. ” replied William smiling. Ivan

was happy because William finally made him be able to call him will. Jake was happy too

because no more arguments about that problem at least. Stella went to Zack and said, “ Wanna

race? ” “ You’re on. ” replied Zack chasing her, thus was another of Balto’s pups becoming a hero.
