Rosie sat on her bed, a blank look on her face. It had been a year since Jenna and Balto had died and now Rosie’ s life was out of control. She suffered from depression and would go out of her house she only came out of her bedroom to eat . She sat there hands held around her knees she thought “ why Jenna and Balto why did you leave me.”

Balto sat on a cloud and looked down at the small town of Nome, his ears perked as he heard someone approach him from behind. He turned and saw his son Kodi who had much to his and Jenna’s surprise died in a bear attack along with Aleu. Kodi looked at his father and said “hey dad what’s up” he replied “just thinking” Kodi cocks his head and says “about what’ Balto replies “about being alive” Kodi said “oh that.” Balto turned to him and says “don’t you miss it, the feel of snow beneath your paws, the wind blowing through your fur even some of the most ordinary things you don’t think about I miss” Kodi says “like what” Balto says “like eating, breathing, having your heart beat those types of things”

Kodi nods and says “I too miss those things but we are no longer alive so I have given those things up.”

Later that day Balto watched as Jenna and his mother strode over to him, Balto looked into his mates eyes and saw they had tears in them he asked what was wrong. Jenna spoke saying “Rosie’s life is in danger of ending” Balto stood back and said “why” she replied saying “she has gone into depression over my death and I am afraid for her” she turned away from him sobbing and saying “I never should have died” Balto walks her to her and nuzzles her under her chin saying “everything will be alright” she looked into his soft brown eyes and nodded. Balto turns from her and to his mother saying “mom I want my life back” she says “why you have everything here’ he says “not everything” she lowers her ears and says “fine you can go back” he looked at her his tail started to wag and he says “really can Jenna come to” she nods.

Balto feels a harsh wind start to blow his mother is enveloped in darkness, he feels himself being dragged backwards and then everything is still. He opens his eyes and looks around he cannot see anything he thinks “am I still dead” he feels a small throb in his chest and wonders what it could be. As the throb picks up he realizes it is a heartbeat, he moves his left paw and feels dirt all around him. He tries to draw in a breath but sucks in dirt, he pushes himself up through the soil and digs his way to the surface. He looks as a ray of sunshine beams in from above.

He pulls himself out of the grave and stretches himself in the sunlight, he draws in a breath and exhales saying “good to be back” he looks at the grave next to his and notices that the soil is stirring. He rushes over to it and digs, Jenna’s head appears as well as the rest of her. She pulls herself out of the grave and looks around then at Balto saying “thanks” he nods, they both walk into town and start to look for Rosie. Rosie sat on her bed looking out the window. At that same time Balto and Jenna arrived behind Rosie’s house and Jenna started to bark.

Rosie heard a bark that sounded eerily familiar and thought “it isn’t her” she got off of her bed and looked out the window her jaw dropped. There outside stood Jenna and Balto they were perfectly fine, Rosie ran out of her room and outside. Jenna watched as Rosie rounded the corner of her house and run towards her , Jenna jumped into her arms and licked her face. Rosie hugged Jenna tightly and saw Balto behind her and motioned him to come which he gladly did. Rosie started to become much happier after Jenna’s and Balto’s return from the dead, sometime afterward Rosie woke up and found to her surprise Kodi and Aleu on her front porch. Kodi told his parents that Aniu allowed them to return Balto thought “thanks mother.”
