Part 10; Final Part
Cailean awoke, her eyes adjusting to the dark room. For once she wasn’t drenched in sweat, her head and body didn’t ache and her vision was sharper then ever. She wondered where she was and where Ahura was. She rose and a woman that stood close to the same height as her walked up to the cot she sat on. The woman was different, her long pointed ears protruded out of her head and her body was pale. Cailean looked up at the woman and smiled.
“I’m Aasa, My husband and I have been looking after you these past few days?”
“Days?” she looked at the woman in surprise.
“Yes, you’ve been with high fever for awhile, leaving you disoriented for the most part” she replied. As if the elf could read her mind she spoke.
“Ahura came in a couple of day ago” “Only a few minutes after you actually.” Cailean nodded.
“Thank you for the care you’ve given me” she said gratefully.
“It was no problem, really, but I will admit a couple of nights ago we weren’t sure you’d make it the night” She couldn’t make herself believe it. Her life had been hanging in the air and she only felt like she had taken a large sleeping pill. She shook her head in amazement.
“Well, in that case, thanks for keeping me alive” Aasa smiled and nodded.
“You seem like a nice girl and I would truly love to get to know you more but Ahura said he wanted you both on your horses by the time you woke” before Cailean could reply, Lannsok walked in and bowed shortly.
“I’m glad to see you looking alive and well” Aasa smiled and looked back at her.
“My husband, Lannsok, helped you get where you are now” the elf looked up lovingly at her husband and Cailean couldn’t help a smile. The girl looked at them both.
“Well, I thank you both dearly” she slid off the cot and hugged them both. She hoped it didn’t seem like she was rushing out on the two.
“I must go, Ahura is most likely waiting”
“Indeed, he sent me for you” the warrior smiled and patted her shoulder.
“He’s at the gates”
“Thank you” Cailean said again and looked back at them once more. The couple smiled and she returned it. Much Gratitude, my friends she thought and walked away. She ran down a large cement ramp and began running, longingly for Ahura. He stood outside the gates. Litador and Acaande at his side. His head was high and his hands were crossed and for some reason, tears sprung to he eyes. Had she really missed him that much? She ran and hugged him and he stiffened but put his arms around her. She smiled up at him.
“ Where to Sir?” she asked in a manly voice, almost laughing. The Werewolf thought for a moment and spoke.
“ We shall build a new Kingdom, where I will be king and you my dear, shall be queen” He kneeled on one knee and kissed her hand. Tears came back to her eyes but of joy and memories to come. Cailean smiled down at him, heart racing and Ahura showed her the broadest smile she had ever seen, one that he never knew he had.
* Cailean and Ahura built their kingdom with help from the elves and The pack guarded the boundaries as they had done in Bathazar. Only four months later, the Confederate Army found them again. Ahura was shot and despite their efforts to heal him, Ahura died along with The Pack. Who was shot first at their attempt to guard their King and Queen. Cailean grieved and after his death, she stayed in the form of a wolf and howled in mourning for many nights. Lannsok and Aasa tried in a desperate attempt to coax her back into her human form and live again but she refused and continued to let her mourning be heard. Yet one night there was Silence amongst the spruce trees. Lannsok and Aasa searched for her and found her a few feet from Ahura’s grave. A broken heart silenced her. They buried her near her mates grave. Litador and Acaande lived on for they were immortal but felt the lost of their beloved friends. Yet, they all lived on but the story of Cailean and Ahura lived on for years.*
Authors note: I am sad to say this was the final part of the series. I really enjoyed writing all 10 parts and I hope who followed them and enjoyed them as well. Cailean relates to me in some ways but is definitely not as reserved as I am. Ahura, is a member of baltosource and he allowed me to use his character. Thank you once again and there are more fan fics on the way.
Ahura- Thank you for allowing me to use your character. This series was dedicated to you.
