A Coyote’s in the House.

Book 2!

Antwan howled gratefully that he was alive from all the gunshots that were blasted at him from the Animal Control’s hunters. They were out of bullets, so with heads down, all of the green suited men headed back to the van with all the technology in it. They drove of, and Antwan smiled as he panted from running so hard. Ramona came out of some brush and nuzzled her older brother, being thankful that he was alive. After she nuzzled him, Ramona replied, “You know they will hunt you down again Antwan.” She said with tears coming down her face. “Don’t worry little sis. They won’t come back for me. Now, all I need to do is tell Miss Betty and Buddy that I’m all right.” So he jogged down the Holly Wood hill and raced to see his old pals again.

Ms. Betty had her head on the window seal. She couldn’t stop thinking about Antwan, until she saw something in the dark; racing along the steep side of the hill that the house was planted on. Antwan! She was so excited that she danced to herself. The French poodle knew he would make it! So she tiptoed down stairs carefully, not wanting to wake up any one from a night’s sleep. After she reached the kitchen door, she went through the doggy door and out she came. She saw that Antwan jumped over the fence, and that he was lying beside the pool, waiting for her to come near him. “Well, what coyote do we have here?” she said with a grin on her face. Antwan got up, and he met eye to eye with the showgirl. “Man, you smell good enough to eat.” He said as he licked his lips. Ms.  Betty just rolled her eyes and giggled, for that was the first thing he said when they met. “Do you ever stop thinking about your hunger?” she as she sat down next to him. “No, but the hunters might come back, so I might need to find a different home around this mountain.” He replied as he looked up at the sky. Only one or two stars shone in the sky of the Holly Wood town. “Oh, but I’m glad that you’re alive. After we heard the gunshots, Buddy thought it was a different Coyote howling, but I knew it was you. But as anyways, the Animal Control men came back here to the house. They said next time that they come, they won’t shoot you, only tranquilize you….” Antwan paused her. “Tranquilize? What does that mean?” Ms. Betty stood there, looking blank, but she said after awhile, “I don’t know, but then the men went on saying after they tranquilize you, they will bring you to this Doctor Johnson so he could run some tests on you, to see how a coyote life is like. The mom and dad agreed to the tranquilize thing, but still stay careful.” After the French poodle said the last sentence, Buddy, the German Shepard came out of the doggy door too. He joined with his friends, smiling that Antwan is safe. “Well hello old timer.” Antwan said to the German dog. Buddy just rolled his eyes, Antwan never changed in a day. “So, I heard the men will still search for you.” Buddy said to Antwan, who looked tired from still running around from the crazy, stupid humans. “Yeah, I guess, but I have to leave now, any time in the morning the men are gonna search me, and I don’t want them seeing me at your house. So, goodbye showbiz and showgirl.” After his goodbye, Antwan jumped over the wired fence, and headed toward where his pack was.

The morning sun came out shining over the city of Holly Wood. On the hill, Antwan awoke, stretching in the shrub near his den. He got out and sniffed the morning air, but something was wrong. The smell of human was all over on this side of the mound, and they were near. “Uh oh,” but it was already too late. He saw green suited men heading toward him with huge guns. Antwan was startled, so he tripped over his big, clumsy paw and on to his scrawny body. He heard one of the men say, “Shoot now!” and he felt a tranquilizing bullet in his butt. “OUCHHHH!” Antwan said as he yipped. He got up from his feet, ready to run away before something else happens, but he was too dizzy, and felt a little drunk. He twisted his legs around, his tail straight up. Antwan felt sleepy, so he fell conscious onto the ground, making no sound. The last thing he heard was humans rushing toward him.

“Well, Doctor Johnson, we have your coyote.” Replied one of the Animal Control men. Doctor Johnson got all the testes ready, and Antwan was cover with all human technology over him. After running some testes, Doctor Johnson said to his assistant, “This coyote has high stamina. Note that. He becomes stressed when no food is around. Note that. This coyote works well with others when he is leader. He has a high popularity rank around others. Note that. Also note that he is feared when no food is around, and that he loves to eat peanut butter cookies that are freshly baked.” The assistant noted everything down quickly, but then asked, “Where are we going to put this coyote sir? He can get killed if we put him back where he first lived. The other coyotes will go crazy for him.” Doctor Johnson tapped his finger next to his mouth. “I know the perfect place. Yellowstone National Park can take him in. Besides, the environment would be better than California’s city pollution there.” The assistant nodded her head, and Doctor Johnson ran more testes on Antwan. Five days passed, and the testing was over.

Antwan opened his eyes from the deep sleep of the strong dose he was tranquilized on the hill in Holly Wood. After noticing where he was, Antwan was stuck in a cage in the back of a pick up truck. He kept gnawing at the bars with his sharp teeth, but it was no use. After a couple hours pass, the pick up truck stopped. They were at Yellowstone National Park. Two men got out of the truck, picked up the cage, and entered the park with some passes. Antwan kept growling, but the stupid humans didn’t seem to notice. Then, in a middle of a beautiful field surrounded by trees, mountains, flowers, and ponds, the two men shook the coyote out of the cage. Antwan came tumbling out, and he saw the two men walk away with the cage they were grasping. “Ouch. All I remembered was getting pinned in the butt.” Said Antwan as he rubbed his rear. He looked around to see where he was, and it wasn’t home. The air was clean, and the climate wasn’t dry and hot. It was cool, and the wind blew gracefully through the atmosphere. Where in the world was he, and why are there no human houses in sight? Antwan got up to his feet, and decided to go look for a coyote pack, and ask them questions where he was. So he trotted through the forest, and he heard some howling. Coyotes! He said in his thoughts. He ran to the area where the howling came from, and saw some coyotes on a hill, howling together in one pack. There was only ten in the pack, and every single one noticed that he was staring at them. “Um, I’m Antwan, and I’m new here. I came from the Holly Wood hills, and I was wondering if I could...” then the pack leader growled and said, “Get off of our territory! Go find another pack!” the other coyotes growled at him to, so Antwan backed away from the pack of ten, and turned away to find some other packs. He heard more howling, and he raced to see if there were more coyotes in the area. Antwan was right; there were coyotes in the meadows howling together. Only this time there were seven. So he approached them slowly, so he could make the first move. As the same thing started, they all notice him on their land. “I’m Antwan, I come from the Holly Wood hills, so I was wondering if I could join your pack.” He was relieved to get that off his shoulder. The leader came up to him and snarled, “Holly Wood hills? Pssh. You’re nothing but a weak coyote. You came from an area of small game, why we in Wyoming have a big game here to eat. If only the wolves stop taking the deer... but anyways, you can’t join. Your odor fills the smell of mischievous and trouble maker. Our pack only takes serious and strong coyotes.” The leader turned, and his packed walked out on Antwan, making him look like a lonesome fool. Not strong? Why, I was the strongest in the pack of Cletus’s. But oh well. I hope there will be more packs out there waiting for me.  So the day went on, and every coyote pack he found, they always turned him down and said something dumb that he was weak or that he’s too skinny or that he needs a mate to join. Then they would say to him to get of their territory.

Evening hung in the sky, and Antwan didn’t know what to do but sit around and start his own pack. But how? No Wyoming coyote likes him. I guess he’s just on his own, needing his own survival to stay strong. So Antwan searched for shelter, and when he found an old fox den that wasn’t used any more, he went inside and made it bigger. He dug, and after digging Antwan took all the debris out, and his home was ready. Then, he scent marked his home, so that no animal would come barging in. After all the tiring work, Antwan lied down to relax, and the rest of the night was quiet, and millions of stars shone in the dark, navy blue- blackish sky.

It was morning, and Antwan was really hungry, especially without having food for about a week. So he stretched for awhile, the start out look for food. He looked over head and saw a raven going in circles, which means there was an animal kill. So he followed the raven, and there was a dead deer lying in the short grass. He went over to the deer and took bites out of it, but then something brushed against the bushes, making a sound. He turned this way and that, and he met eye to eye with a beautiful, black wolf. His heart raced, and his good old friend Buddy said wolves are evil, and that they will eat any human in sight. Antwan believes in Buddy, since Buddy starred in the movie Buddy to the Rescue and that he saw the movie on top of a hill that’s right next to a drive in. Buddy saves a little girl from a pack of evil wolves that was about to eat her, and apparently he won the fight over the wolves. Antwan shook the thought in his head, and he kept staring at the wolf. “Um, hello?” said the black wolf, beginning to worry if this coyote has rabies.  “Oh, uh hello. What’s your name?” Antwan said, gulping in fear that the wolf would attack him. “My name is Keme, and if you haven’t notice, I’m a girl.” Antwan looked into Keme’s eyes, wondering if she is vicious or not, but it looks like should wouldn’t hurt anyone.

Buddy looked out of the window in Ms. Betty’s room. He sighed, and spoke, “Betty, I hope Antwan is safe out there, but I think they got him and put him to sleep and start running testes on him. Also, do you remember when the Animal Control men came to our house last night? Well, they said Doctor Johnson was finish running the testes, and that they released him into, I think, Yellowstone National Park.” Ms. Betty just nodded her head, for that she didn’t want to wake up her newborn pups that were born three days ago. But she worried if the pups’ father was Antwan, the coyote that she loved and looked into. Soon, the family would have to take all nine pups to the vet, seeing what breed all the pups were. She would be afraid that they would give them away, for that she immensely loved her little pups. She hadn’t named them yet, but the family kept on thinking of ideas. She wanted Antwan to be here with her, enjoying this moment on naming the pups. Buddy turned around to Ms. Betty and said, “I’m gonna rescue Antwan.”

Antwan and Keme were talking a while, trying to become acquaintances or friends. Antwan told her how he got here, and that he was looking for a pack to join, but all rejected him. “Oh, interesting,” Keme replied, sounding interested about being a coyote. “My pack all died by hunting against other wolves, since there isn’t much deer, caribou, or moose left.” Antwan nodded, but a question banged him. “I thought wolves love to eat humans!” he said with a jolt in his throat. Keme, halted, lowered her ears and bristled her fur on her back. She turned around to face Antwan, and she pinned him to the ground. “Okay, listen to this smart butt. I’m getting angry now that everyone thinks that we wolves love to eat on humans for no reason. Well, we don’t. Does it look like I want to eat an organ from a creature that shoots us for no reason?!” “Well, I thought you guys loved eating human organs.” Antwan said with a smirk. Keme pinned him down harder. “If you keep talking about this, I will eat your organs, and you would regret everything you have said.” Keme snarled, and Antwan felt a little sorry for insulting her and her species. Keme released him with her paw, and she walked toward a pond and lied down next to it. Antwan, feeling guilty, went over to her and comfort her by saying sorry. “Hey sorry for what I said. It’s just where I grew up; we never knew what the life was like for a wolf. I’m sorry for misjudging you so quickly.”  Keme looked up at Antwan, with tears streaming down her eyes. “It’s okay. I forgive you. I’m sorry too that I have reacted so meanly in that way. I should have cooled off first.” Her voice sounded cloggy and miserable, and Antwan lied down next to her. “No, you should’ve acted like that. I mean, I am a smart butt like you said…” Keme giggled and said, “It’s just, I hate how everyone thinks we’re evil, but we’re not. With out us wolves, nature wouldn’t be balanced out with out us.” Antwan nuzzled her, and for the rest on the night the two friends did nothing.

A couple weeks later, Keme and Antwan became just more than friends, but mates. The wolf was pregnant, and Antwan was becoming a proud father (or so he was already). The coyote went out hunting for small game, since by him self it would be hard to hunt big game. He came to the den where Keme laid, and he brought back some rabbits and squirrels. “I’m gonna go hunting again. Be right back.” Antwan said as he crawled out of the den, but then he met eye to eye with an old, German Shepard friend. “Buddy!” Antwan said as he jumped up and down. Keme crawled out of the den too to meet eye to eye with this ‘Buddy’. “Hello.” She said in a kind voice. “Um… hi.” The German dog said with a frighten voice of meeting this wolf. “Um, Keme, meet Buddy. Buddy, meet Keme.” “You’re a wolf….. But anyways, Antwan, come back home with me and Ms. Betty has important news for you. I have searched you all over, and I finally found you! So, are you ready to leave?” Buddy said in excitement. “Keme,” the coyote started and looked into her eyes, “I have to leave.” The black wolf nodded, and then said, “Okay….” “Really? I mean, are you sure?” Antwan said with shock. “Yes, but I have to come with.” Buddy and Antwan looked at each other, wondering what risk Keme is taking.

Days passed, and the three arrived at the Holly Wood town. Up the hills of Holly Wood, Antwan told Keme to hide in some bushes, and she obeyed him. Then, Buddy and Antwan arrived at the house, and the two jumped over the fence, sneaked into the house, making no sound. Then, Antwan peeked his head through Ms. Betty’s door, noticing little playful pups at her side. “Well, are you ready to name them?” Antwan gulped then whispered, “Name them?” The French poodle rolled her eyes. “They’re our pups!”
The coyote’s eyes widen. “Oh shizz.” He said under his breath. He went over to her, counting all of the eight pups. “Wow, eight beautiful coyote- pups. Well, I will name four, and you will name four. So let me go first. That pup is Yomo, the one right next to him is Yoko, the one with floppy ears is Rocket, and the girl pup that looks like me is Kaliska.” Ms. Betty giggled, saying, “Cute names. Okay here are my names; the one with my looks is Mimi, the one right next to her is Petunia, the sly one right there is Foma, and that cute, playful girl right there is Chiego.” Antwan smiled, showing he loved the names, and he suddenly forgot about the black wolf, Keme. The night went on, and eventually Antwan hid in Ms. Betty’s closet so that the parents won’t find him in the house the next morning. All he was thinking about was beautiful pups he and Ms. Betty have at the moment.

I do not own any characters in my story. Only except for Keme and Yomo, Yoko, Kaliska, Rocket, Chiego, Foma, Mimi and Petunia. All of the other characters belong to the best author who originally created A Coyote’s in the House. I just wanted to honor this wonderful book by making a sequel (No matter how quick I made it!).

Buddy, Ms. Betty, and Antwan belongs to Mr. Elmore Leonard, who those characters respectfully belongs to him and not me.

Yes, there will be a continuation for this story.
