I looked back at the small still figure lying next to me. She was beautiful, the exact picture of her mother. Her fur was a light brown and her eyes were a bright blue, she was an angel sleeping close too me, her breathing came in small whisps. I leaned close to her once more, putting my lips on her small head I kissed her gently. She moved slightly only getting closer to me. " I'll always love you, I promise" I whispered. I looked up and Jacob was standing in the door way of the cave, it was beginning to rain. "It's time" He said plainly. I took one last glance at my little girl covering her gently with my head as I curled around her. I slowly moved away from her as Anita stood to take my place by her. I walked as slowly as I could to join Jacob and I looked back for the last time. She would forget me in time, but I would never forget her, never.

"Run Angel Run" Rain was yelling as each wolf called out encouragements too the runners. Angel ran her delicate figure moving lightly with each stride she took. She glanced by her side quickly every moment to make sure Storm was a good distance away. She would let him catch up then dart away leaving him in the dust again. Before she knew it she was crossing the finish line. "Yay" "You did it" Billy and Rain said coming up to Angel as she fell tiredly on the ground. "That is the last time I ever make a bet with you" Storm said coming through the crowd of specters who had been watching the race closely. "I told you man" Billy said obviosuly. "I know I know." "Hey you were pretty good" Angel smiled shoving Storm playfully. "Your not so bad yourself" Rain rolled her eyes, "Here we go again, why dont you two just sniff eachother and get it over with" Angel blushed slightly cocking her head to one side, and for a moment witty Storm said nothing. "Come on Rain-bow" Storm said calling rain by her nickname. "Right" Angel said getting up quickly "Lets get out of here"
The four friends walked on together through the woods, laughing till Angel, suddenly got quiet her eyes sparkiling with a sudden idea. "Hey lets go into the town" She said looking through the uderbrush to the land ahead. "Angel, you know its not safe to go out there" Billy said pleadingly, he could tell this was gonna be another Angle extravaganza tour. "Yea so" "So, do you really want to get shot by a human?" Storm asked "Hey, there you are" Alic, one of Angel's friends said coming to them with a witty smile. Storm glared at him silently. Him and Alic weren't the best of friends, mainly because of Angel. Storm liked Angel, and Alic thretended that love, always fliriting with her and taunting Storm in everyway possible. So it was an on going feud. "Whats goin on?' He asked "We were just about to" "Stay here" Storm played in still trying to talk Angel out of the whole town thing. "Go into town and hunt some action" Angel looked defiantly at Storm, she was testing him agian. " Angel, its not safe out there" "I'm in" Alic smiled at her, talking over Storms warning. "Dog fight" Billy said under his breath to Rain, who had remained unusally silent. "Alright then, lets go" Storm said boldly heading in the direction of the small buildings in the distance. "But you said" Angel started to remind him. "Yea, so, lets go find some action" Alic ran to catch up and the Five dogs walked into the square.
"Look at all these people" Angel said, Storm walked uneasily by her. He knew what it meant when Angel got that curios glow in her eyes, trouble. The last thing he wanted was for her to get hurt. "What are those dogs doing?" Rain asked looking stupidly at the row of dogs tied to a sled. "I dont know but it looks like fun" Angel smiled "I'm gonna find out" She said begining too come from behind thier hiding place out into the open of the town. Billy was occupied sniffing some one's boot who had stopped close by. He pulled his nose away and curled his lips. "These humans sure do smell" "Bill" Rain said "What, they do" He shrugged "Angel" Storm raised his voice in a whisper. "Dont go out there, they'll all attack you" "O dont be such a push over, I'll blend in, I dont exactly have the looks of you guys anyway" She smiled. It was true, she didnt look at all like a wolf. Her fur was light and fell in wisps and waves along her back and sides. She was lean and tall, but not in the way of a wolf, her paws were small and delicate, but the real catch was her eyes. They were bright blue, as blue as the sky on a clear day. She didnt look like a wolf, but her father and mother had both been wolfves. At least thats what her grandmother had told her of them. Angels parents had both died when she was young. Her grandfather said it was during an attack from a rival pack, she had lived with them ever since.
"Ok ok go" Storm sighed regreating the words as he spoke. "Right, and I'll keep an eye on her" Alic said begining to follow "Hey, your not goin anywhere, you sure dont look like a malamute with your ugly mug so you better sit here and stay or you'll get us all killed." Storm growled "Calm down prince charming, your girl wants action, I'm gonna find something to do while we're here, unlike some of us" Alic walked daringly beside the building and left them standing. Storm was raging, but he kept a close eye on Angel, who was sniffing nonchalantly close to the dogs by the sled.
"Hey beautiful" One dog called out to her, Angel turned around, smiled and walked to them. Storm tensed, if they made a move he would attack, no doubt. "Hi" She said plainly, prancing around them. The laughing stopped and the dogs starred on. The dog talking to Angel made some comment and a red haired dog stepped aside and pushed him away. "Jack leave her alone" "Just trying to have a little fun" The dog shrugged "Right, I'm sorry, some dogs just have no manners at all" "Thats ok" "I'm Kirbo by the way" He smiled kindly "Angel" The conversation was going on, and by the minute Storm was getting jealous.
"Storm, hey lightning bolt, get over here" Alic said, Storm turned away ajetated. "What?" He demanded "Just get over here" Alic said disapearing aroung the corner. Storm sighed, "Watch her" He said to Billy quickly running behind the building on the other side of the street, un-observed by the others. "What did I tell you, this was a bad idea" Rain said coming to Billy's side "O, nothings happened yet." Rain rolled her eyes, but as she did, she glanced up and saw, Storm and Alic on the roof. "Yea well that looks like something to me" She said giving Billy a shove.
"Look theres enough meet there for a real good dinner." Alic was saying, nodding toward a piece of meet hanging from a bar that was just outside the window. "Alic, we could just go hunt some ourselfves" "And Ignore the chance we have now, you go ahead, But I'm going for it." Alic said, looking expectantly at Storm. "Whats the plan" He gave in. In a few minutes, Storm was holding on to the end of Alic's tail, while he climbed over the buiding's edge, while trying to keep his footing through the slippery snow at the same time. "Almost there" Alic kept saying "Just a little closer, a little father, Come one, I GOT IT" he yelled jumping a little so that both dogs lost thier footing, before they could do anything they were falling off the roof and too the ground.
"Ow, what was the big idea jumping like that, trying to get us killed" Storm said rubbing his head. Alic's mouth was wide open his eyes big, only the string still attached to the meat was in his mouth. "Storm" "I told you this was a bad idea" "Storm" "But you just had to go and do it" "Storm" "To lazy to go kill something yourself. " 'STORM" 'What?!" Storm looked up to where an angry mob of people and dogs surronded them. "Make a run for it" Storm and and Alic both went flying, runing with all they could, Billy and Rain following. "O crap" Angel said taking her eyes away from Kirbo and looking at the chaos her friends were in. "I gotta go, it was nice meeting you" She screamed back running toward the woods with the others. "Wait, I dont even know where you live" Kirbo called back "Far from here" was Angel's short reply.
Finally all the dogs, got away from the confusion safely, back into the woods. "Wh-wh-at were you thinking" Rain gasped trying to catch her breath. "Come on Rainy day" Alic laughed "A little ru-r-run never ki- k-illed any one" "A little, I-I dont think -I've ran that fa--st in- in ages" Billy fell on the ground, leaning his back on Rain at they both caught some air. "Hes right" Angel breathed "Wh-at were you two do- doing?" "Come on Angel cakes, you said you wanted some fun" Now it was Storm's turn to prance "We got dinner for tonight" He said finally, smiling gallantly. "Wow, where did you get all that meat?" "WE" Alic stressed, got it from the butcher's Alic said finally cathcing his breath and sitting by Storm the same smile on his face, Strom showed his teeth in disgust, but changed his expression when Angel truned back around. "You two are something else" She smiled.
That night, they stayed out in a clear lot they had used ever since they were pups just learning to walk. They ate to thier fill and the meat was good, Storm with the help of Billy built a fire. It's hard work only using you mouth to rub two stick toghether, I mean all humans have to do it light a match but it is possible for a wolf to do so, well at least for Storm anyway. Soon all the others, began to clear out but Angel and Storm stayed, staring into the fire quietly. "Thankyou for tonight" Angel smiled "I didnt get the meat" Storm admitted, "It was actually Alic's idea" He sighed disappointed "I know, but Alic's not here, you are" She smiled "Are you glad?" He asked "Yea" She agreed. Storm grinned slightly, and Angel shivered a little cold even close to the fire. "Are you cold?" "Not too bad" Storm moved closer to her anyway, putting his head across her back. "That better" "Much" They both smiled and for awhile they talked. Mostly about the day and past memories they had had together. Angel hadnt admitted it, neither of them had, but Storm was easy to talk to, she could say anything and he would understand. Every time she was with him she felt like she could do anything, and she liked it. Before either of them knew it they were fast asleep, the fire still glowing.
********************
The weather was rough, but the body close to me was strong and warm, I felt safe and I knew I had nothing to be afraid of. I fell asleep fast curled up by the soft fur. The lightning flashed and there was someone standing in the door way, but the face was too hard to make out, the wolf seemed to be waiting for something. Suddenly, the Wolf next to me bent his head down low. "I'll love you always" It said gently, then slowly it began to move. No daddy dont leave, you promised youd never leave, Daddy come back, the lightning flashed agian I was scared I whimpered loudly but he wasnt there, I was alone, Daddy dont leave Daddy come back you Promised Daddy!
*******************
Angel jumped awake as a brach fell from a tree on the reamains of the burned out fire. Storm moved off of her. "Are you ok?" He asked , she must have looked as scared as she felt. "Yea I'm fine" She tried to play it off, but another Storm trait was being able to see a lie through people. "Really it was nothing just a bad dream" Angel said but she couldnt look him in the eye. "The same one?" He asked, she had talked to him before about stuff like this. "Yes" She finally admitted "Do you want to talk about it" "I dont know what good it will do, it wont change anything, each time it's the same, I see my dad and one minute hes there the next hes not and theres nothing I can do to stop it, I dont know what it means, I wish I could just make out all these flashes, none of it makes sense" Angel buried her head in Storms warm fur as he nuzzled her, trying to comfort. "Shsh its ok, we can figure it out, hey, maybe this wolf over in the Frisco pack" Storm said "Frisco, what?" "Yea, theres this wolf, shes very old but shes known for helping people understand dreams and stuff, sorta like a doctor or something" Storm said, but he saw the doubt in her eyes. "Seriously, we should go, we can figure this out" "We?" Angel asked suprised "Yea we, I'm not leavin you" He smiled, she grinned suddenly feeling a little shy even with Storm. "Sounds like a plan" She said thankfully, lightining gave a quick flash in the dark sky. "Yea, well we better get you home right now, it looks like the weathers gonna try and get rough out here" Storm said rising to his feet, and trying to keep the strong wind from knocking Angel over.
He walked her home and told her tomorrow they would go to the old wolf. Every time he spoke softly and encouragingly to her, promising he would see this through with her. Angel felt a spark, something she couldnt explain, but it made her nervous and her heart raced. She was glad he was there, she was afraid, maybe to proud to admit it, but the past had always frightened her, what if everything was..
"Whos there" A scrathcy voice growled. "Its me Grandma" Angel said shaking some water from her fur. "Angel" Anita said coming from the shadows. She was a big white wolf, tall and lean with big paws and a thick coat that gleamed in the night. Angel wondered if her father had looked anything like her. "Where have you been?" "I fell asleep out in the lot, I'm sorry if I worried you" Angel said "Its ok, I'm just glad your out of the storm, I think its gonna get bad tonight" The wolf said, nuzzling her grand daughter. "Here you better get some sleep, we dont want to wake your grandfather" Anita smiled as a gently woof sounded from the next passage in the den. "Is he feeling better?" Angel asked laying down after truning around in a comfy ball. "I think so" Anita smiled "He just had a small cold, he'll be his old self in no time" The old wolf smiled once more. "Good night dear" "Good night" Angel said, as Anita left her alone in the solitude of the den. Angel thought back to what Storm had said, we'll figure this out togehter. That would give her comfort, if, if she only knew what it was she would be finding out. She was sure it had been her father in the dream, she could still feel him nuzziling her and his soft voice in her ear like it were happening now. Then she thought back to the things Anita had told her about her mother. If only they were here, Angel thought hopelessly, they'd know what to do.
The night before had brought a fitful sleep, but then agian ever since the nightmares had crept into Angel's life no night was good. She wasn't even sure if you could call them nightmares, it was to real to be a dream, like a memory that was to far back to be clear yet there it was, replaying itself over and over agian, like it was trying to force her to remember, but she wasn't sure she wanted too. The past was frightening. Every time Angel tried to think back she was forced to a point of being alone, she felt like she was all alone in the world, she was scared and upset and all the emotions rolled on to one. One minute her minute her family was close and she was safe the next trapped in a suficating darkness, un-able to re-grasp the light.
She got up slowly, her joints acking terribly from her tossing sleep. It was a bit later in the day, she had slept longer than she had meant too. She hoped Storm would still be going with her, she couldnt face the darkness alone.
"Good morning" Anita smiled nuzzling Angel. "Morning, Anita it's in the middle of the afternoon" Jacob said clearing his muffled voice. "Jacob give her a break, the poor dear wasnt feeling to well" Angel cocked her head, "I feel fine" "You slept horribly last night, You kept talking in your sleep" Anita said. "O" Angel tried to play it off "Well I'm a lot better now" Angel smiled. 'Good to hear Angel" Jacob smiled "How about you Grandad?" "Right as rain" He smiled "In fact, you want to go rough it around, go hunt in the far woods, have some fun with your old Grandad" He smiled getting slowly to his feet with a slight jump. "Ah, I'd love too, but I promised Storm I would meet him some place" Angel hesitated "Storm, Harold's boy?" Jacob asked "Yes thats the one" Angel said hiding a smile "You don't need to be hanging around that boy, All you'll get is trouble.."He started to go on. It didn't really have anything to do with Storm Jacob was just very protective, no one was good enough to be around Angel, everyone brought trouble, and no one could be trusted. It use to bother Angel a great deal but one time when she had gotten in an argument with Jacob over it, he sighed and told her he cared about her, and that he was keeping a pomise he had made to her Father before he died, she had never questioned his judgement, only accepted it knowing he loved her and that it was for the best. "Now Jacob, Storm is a fine young wolf, his parents have been great friends of the family" Anita gave Angel a smile, going behing her mate and nuging his shoulders with her head. "Well still, I want you to be careful" Jacob gave in to Anita, he always did. "I will Grandad" She kissed his cheek. "Bye, I'll see you both later" "Be careful" Anita yelled back but Angel was already gone and halfway across the pack.
Angel snuck around wonderingly into Storm's den, it didn't look like anyone was home, besides half the pack was out and at a festival that was being held, soon the whole valley would be full of wolfves, including Angel's grandparents. "Hello?" Angel called, but all that answered her back was an echo. "Storm, it's Angel" She repeated. "THINK FAST" A loud voice said from behind. Angel jumped up in a screaming growl as she turned around. Storm was dying laughing. "Storm" "I-m sorry its just --you --you should have seen-- the l-ook on your face" Storm stuttered out, still laughing. "You scared me to death" Angel pounced on him. The two fought plafully, biting at eachohter. The both Laughed, as Storm rolled Angel over, placing his paws on her legs looking into her eyes as she laid on the ground. Soon the laughter was gone and they both looked at eachohter seriously. Storm's eyes were sparkiling, Angel saw it in his eyes, the feeling she had, it was happening, so this is what it was like. Angel turned her head, and Storm quickly jumped on the ground. "Ah-- we better get going we don't want to miss the light while we still got it" Storm said, trying not to look in Angel's eyes to directly. "Right" Angel smiled silently getting to her feet. The two headed off and soon Storm was making witty jokes once agian as the headed into the unknown where answers were just around the corner.
"You know this is just like that time we went camping" Storm laughed as they walked through the woods. "If you call that camping" Angel rolled her eyes good naturedly. "Hey it was fun" Storm said "Remember we found this abandoned den and my Dad and your Grandad decided to check it out." "Anbandoned?" Angel said "Yea if you call a cave full of bears abandoned" She laughed sarcastically "It was not full of bears" Storm argued "No just three half our size cubs and an angry mother close by" Angel laughed "Well, it didn't seem so bad at the time" Storm shrugged jokingly. "Right, then while me and you were running away from a very angry mother someone" Angel stressed "Led all of us straight into the poison ivy" Angel laughed "O! so thats why the bear didn't follow" "Yea, it took me two weeks to stop itiching" Angel and Storm both laughed and Storm began to go on, but a rustle in the bushes and a sudden rush of wind close by made them both become silent. "Stay close" Storm whispered moving close to Angel so the his body pressed firmly against hers, ready to protect her if anything should go wrong. There was a rush of dark fur and and a shadow came from the under brush. "Who are you?" A voice growled. Storm glanced at Angel then ansered, "Storm, I am from the north" "What do you want here?" another voice said "We came to see the old one" Storm said circling trying to keep his eyes on the invisible introuduers. "Too late" The gruff voice suddenly said and then there was a rush of wind and brown fur puonded down on Storm. Strom growled in rage, about to attack, he couldnt let them get to Angel, but then a laughing bark made him look back at his Attacker closely.
"Kaleb?" Storm said, riding himself of the growls and settleing down. Kaleb laughed fallinf off of Storm and sitting beside him. "Kaleb and Tony am I right?" Strom asked jumping to his feet and questioning the two wolfves excitedly as they both laughed. "I cant believe it" "Yea I know we were pretty suprised too" Tony said. Angel stayed quiet, she wasn't sure what was quiet going on. "What are you doing this way?" Kaleb asked still smiling, the both looked like good natured dogs, reall pranksters. Stor then remembered Angel he looked bhind him and went by her side, and finally she was brought the attention of the strangers. "Guys, this is Angel, Angel meet Kaleb and Tony, two friends of mine" "Well hello" Tony said, his hazel eyes lighting up. "I'm Kaleb the awsomest at your service" He smied " and" Kaleb butted in quickly, knocking Tony over. "I'm Kaleb the handsomest" Angel laughed, they were wierd in a funny way. "Ok ok, back off" Storm tried to act as if he were playing, but Angel could tell he was protective, and then her heart gave that funny skip again and she felt proud. "We are here to see the Old One" Strom explained "I think she can Help Angel" "I'd be glad to help her myself" Tony said under his breath "What?" Storm asked, his eyes giving a sudden flash of anger. "O nothing he was just saying I'm sure she can help, shes very wise, what seems to be your problem?" Kaleb played it off, saving both wolfves from a fight. "Thats what we are here to find out" Angel said,Kaleb and Tony looked at her strangely, but there was no point in explaining it even she didn't understand what was happening.
"Ok, just head up this path and it wont take you muthc longer to get there" Kaleb noddd his head. "Wait aren't you guys coming?" Storm asked. "No we better head back, we have guard duty while half the packs out hunting, besides we wouldn't want to disturd the Old one, I dont think she likes us all that well." Tony said
"Which prak did you play on her" Storm smiled "We didn't do anything to her" Kaled tried to play innocent "Ok so maybe we moved some stuff around and made her thing she was going crazey, it wasnt the worst" "Go on get outta here" Storm laughed shoving them off. "Right, hey I'll see ya later" The both called walking away together. Storm and Angel started up the path.
"How do you know Kaleb and Tony?" "I use to live here" Storm said not looking at Angel. " Your kidding, I alway thought you lived where you do now." Angel said suprised "How come you never said anything?" "I dont know, it's just we moved here after my Dad" Storm's voice trailed off. His Mom's mate now, was not his real father. His Dad had died during an attack the same as Angel's parents, he had moved on but sometimes old memories bring back the fresh void you feel when someone you love is gone. "I'm sorry" Angel said silently "Don't be, if I hadn't moved, I would have never met you" He tilted his head leaning close to her playfully with a grin. Angel laughed and got that shy feeling again. "I'm glad you did" She said just as they arrived at the den of the old one. "Well are you ready?" Storm asked both dogs looking at the dark cave. "Storm, I'm afraid" Angel said finally speaking her fears. Storm came close to her, nuzzling her lightly. " It's gonna be ok,we are going to get through this together" "Promise?" Angel asked. "Promise." Slowly they stepped inside and called out wondering if she were even home.
"Hello, is any one there?" "Welcome" A kind voice said. "Whos there?" Angel asked suddenly becoming curious. "I belive I'm the one your looking for Angel."
