History: He hatched at the Association for the Conservation of Threatened Parrots (ACTP) institution in Berlin, Germany, as part of the Spix's macaw breeding program. Many years later, he was shipped to Brazil when a female was found in São Paulo. When he arrived and was put in the female's enclosure, he was not even remotely attracted to her. She talked way too much and was being too overly friendly, making Tönjes uncomfortable. She was also practically throwing herself at him, Tönjes kept backing away from her until he was cornered, at which point he flew to the door he was shoved through and tried opening it so he could escape. Several tries later, he succeeded, and despite the facility staff chasing after him, managed to escape. He flew until he got tired, then landed in the back of a truck on the road. Tönjes didn't care where it was headed, just as long as it was away from that crazy female. A few hours later, the truck ended up in Rio de Janeiro. When Tönjes woke up, he flew off and landed in a tree. Soon he took back to the sky and explored the city from there. Afterward, he set down in another tree a little farther from Rio than the other one. Soon he spotted a lone female in another tree not too far away; she looked a little down as she watched the sun set. Tönjes flew over and landed close to her. He made his approach and landing silent as he could, so as not to interrupt the female Spix's. He watched her for a few minutes. He looked at the way the sunset was reflected in her lovely brown eyes, set in her equally beautiful face. Soon he moved slightly closer and tried to introduce himself, after which the female said "Not from around here, are you?". Tönjes nodded no. The female turned back to the sunset, and introduced herself a few minutes later. Her name was Jordana. Jordana, curious, asked where Tönjes was from, and he told her.
The two met and talked frequently over the next few months. Tönjes grew closer and closer to Jordana, and she grew closer to him. They were practically inseparable. Jordana's parents could tell they really liked each other. A couple weeks later, by the light of the evening sun, and with Jordana's parents watching, Tönjes asked the lovely Jordana if she would be his mate, and she said yes without a moment of hesitation. Then they embraced. Jordana's parents were very happy for their daughter. Tönjes and Jordana couldn't be happier. They love each other more than anything, and their love will never fade.
