History: She was born in Woodstock, Virginia, in January 1984. As a pup, her parents were abusive: they yelled, fought, and argued almost all the time, and the father constantly had affairs with others. He eventually deserted the mother and pups. The pups soon left to find their own way in life. Months later, when this one was about a year old, a Chessie System worker in the local railyard took her in, and since the yard was a little short on protection, the railroad took her in and put her in their training facility for guard dogs.
A year later, after she completed training, she was put out in the yard, and proved to be one of the best guard dogs they had. She was relentless when it came to catching trespassers. When there weren't any trespassers to pursue, she sometimes slept in a boxcar whose door was either open or partway open. But her yard time was short-lived. A few months later, on July 1, 1986, the Chessie System merged with the Seaboard System RR to form CSX. Soon after, Lillie Mae was given a new collar with the new company colors.
One night a couple years later, she unwittingly picked the wrong boxcar to sleep in. The train the freight car was part of was destined for New York. The horn of the SD40-2 locomotive (CSX #8888) sounded, but Lillie thought nothing of it, and went back to sleep. When she woke up, the train was moving. A few hours later, the train stopped in a railyard in New York City, where she hopped out of the car and walked into the city. A couple hours afterward, when she was on a sidewalk looking up at the massive buildings and all the other things one sees on a street in New York City, she bumped into another dog, who she later befriended.
Relation to O&C: Her friend hangs out with Dodger and the others.
*She smells like diesel locomotive exhaust and oil that's leaked from locomotives onto the tracks.
