Description

Detail Adrian

Name: Adrian

Gender: Male

Age: About 2 ½ Years [18 dog years]

Breed: German Shepherd x Chow

Personality: Adrian can be a bit… complicated to say the least. When he was younger, he was very dependent upon others. As long as he was with his brother, Grimm, he seemed alright for the most part. Though he always was one of the more sensitive of his siblings. After being caught, he became very hurt and began to become depressed. That sadness soon turned to anger, however, after two dogs Stan and Sarah talked him into taking charge. He became as independent as he ever could be, and that turned him into a monster when it came to remembering his brother. Any chance he got, Adrian mocked Grimm and tried to hurt him, attempting to get some kind of ‘revenge’ against the fact his brother abandoned him. When in reality, Grimm never really did. His actions can be seen as evil and remorseless a lot of the time, but you’d have to truly understand him to be able to see it was pain and hurt that made him susceptible to the dog he became: strong, exceedingly independent, and full of mixed emotions that make for a bad combination.

History: As a pup, you would never ever see Adrian all on his own. You could most always see him with his brothers, Grimm and Alphonse. He was entirely dependent upon his family, and Grimm became his main source of dependence. He wouldn’t be himself if he weren’t near Grimm, and it came to a point where without his brother, he practically couldn’t function the same. This, combined with the fact that he grew to be the more sensitive type of dog, was a bad future waiting to happen.

When Grimm began to go out and explore the streets a bit more, Adrian was more than happy to follow. He loved hanging out with his brother, and everything Grimm did, he did too. Though, by now Adrian and Grimm had grown older. And Adrian was beginning to realize how bad his situation was. He started to see how he would change when his brother wasn’t around, and eventually he came to know that it was not a good thing.

One day, while Grimm and Adrian were taking a walk to find some food, Grimm stumbled upon a group of dogs led by  Dodger, a terrier mix. Adrian stayed a bit behind, trying not to follow his brother like a lost puppy. He had to be strong and independent, he told himself. He couldn’t depend on his brother for the rest of his life. What if something happened? Though it was hard… And he didn’t realize just how soon he’d have to tear away entirely.

In a mad, one of the first attempts, to set himself apart a bit, he refused Grimm’s suggestion of coming with him and Dodger’s gang. It hurt him to do so, but after a lot of thought, he decided to go after Grimm. He could try other methods. But ripping away from his brother completely wasn’t the best way to go about it, Adrian realized. Though, after consulting with Grimm and following the group back to their ship home, Adrian was caught up with a few dog catchers who had spotted him. He had been the last in line, and was a bit further apart from the others.

He was promptly looped, thrown in a truck, and put in the pound. After that, everything went downhill. Adrian spent days on end sulking in the corner of his cell. He wasn’t like the rest of the dogs, who so desperately craved an owner so they could get out. He just sat there and thought. And he began to feel hurt. His hurt turned into depression. Feeling as if his brother abandoned him by not realizing what had happened to him or not coming to his aid, Adrian’s emotions began to spiral out of control.

This proved both a good thing and a bad thing when two strays came out of nowhere into the pound. They had obviously wandered there by accident and didn’t seem too keen on talking to anyone, but when Sarah and Stan noticed Adrian’s pitiful state, they decided to convince him to be strong and to try to breakout himself. They left soon after that, so as not to get caught themselves. But their words left a mark on Adrian. They inspired him. But they turned his depression into a driving need to be better, faster, stronger, and along with that came anger.

Everyday for the next two weeks, Adrian pained himself to distance the weakness. He would drive his own body into the wall and gate numerous times a day until he fell collapsed and unconscious. He worked at his teeth and claws, making them sharper and more durable by gnawing and scratching against the barriers. And eventually, he broke himself out.

It was a mission to high tail it out of there and get out of the grasp of the dog catchers and guards, but he managed to do it. After that, he focused on getting revenge on his brother. He did consider going to Sarah and Stan and asking to join them once or twice, but shook his head on it every time. He was independent now at last. And although Grimm had never truly done anything wrong, in Adrian’s mind, abandonment and forgetfulness was his crime. Adrian’s soul belief was that Grimm stopped caring. That he never noticed Adrian’s absence. And that he had purposely erased any and all memories of him.

And so, Adrian spends any chance he gets to make Grimm’s life as miserable as possible. But each time is thwarted some way or another. Someday, he hopes… someday. Though Adrian is unaware of his brother, Alphonse, who was a former police dog and trying to 'change' the streets of New York in some way or another. And one of his many missions was to change Adrian's ways of thinking.

Though Adrian would probably be resistant. After all, along with the anger and sadness also comes the independence... it seems impossible to the Chow Shepherd mix to think any differently.
