Celestia flapped her long wings in the golden sunlight. Though her sun was glorious and magnificent, it did little to reflect it self upon how she felt. Stood below her, gazing up with demanding sea green eyes was her sister. Her sweet, beautiful sister.
Spouting words of hate.
'It's not fair, sister! You and your precious sun loving subjects sleep through my glorious night! Does not my moon shine as elegent and bright as your burning sun? Or are you hiding me away?!'
Celestia swallowed her fear. Remain calm, she told herself. Don't let her see it. Conceal don't feel.
'My dear sister, that is the way the world shall be. Is it not about giving, rather than demanding? Your nights are enchanting and beautiful, and are only to be witnessed by the blessed!' Her gentle voice cracked a little as she spoke, showing the affection she had tried desperately to hide.
Her sister did not buy her words 'Lies! When hath thou ever seen a pony relishing my starry sky?'
The white alicorn bit her lip 'Well, umm-'
'EXACTLY!!' Luna stomped her hoof upon the floor of the tiled castle 'Not one single pony pays attention!!' Her horn glowed a light blue shade, spurting black streaks out of anger.
It pained her sister to see the young princess break like this. Tears rolled down her soft white cheek, lit by the magic that danced about the room and glistened in the light. She searched desperately in her mind for something. Anything. An excuse. An explanation. Something to calm her sister.
But it was something the ruler could not do.
'Why don't you do SOMETHING?!' Luna continued, her nostrils flaring 'YOU'RE the ruler!! You were assigned to the throne!! I clearly wasn't fit, but it seems neither is thou!! Thy untruthful explanations and cruel demands give the royal alicorns a bad name! YOU LET THIS HAPPEN!!! YOU LET THEM WORSHIP YOUR FOR SAKEN SUN!!!'
'Dusk!!' Celestia bluirted.
The young Luna blinked, pausing from her rant. 'What....?' Her voice was softer, quiet.
'It's.... It's dusk. Time to perform my- YOUR duties.' She gulped.
The light from the mares horn faded, as she huffed and turned to the door. Her voice was dead silent. 'Fine. But let this be a warning to you: I will NOT let this continue. One day, my sister, you will pay for this.'
And with that, the princess continued to do her duties.
Celestia breathed a sigh of relief. She'd been able to narrowly miss a rebellion.
But it couldn't stay like this forever. It was bound to happen again at some point.
And then, Dusk wouldn't be able to save her.
