Description
Nightmare moon is the corrupted version of Princess Luna. She's a tall, black alicorn, always shown in full armour and during night time. Luna first transformed into Nightmare moon, when she grew jealous of her sisters glorious night. Out of pure jealousy, she transformed into her corrupted self and battled Celestia (Show in "Princess Twilight Sparkle" Season 4, episode 1 and 2.), before she trapped her in the moon.
After being banished to the moon for 1000 years, she finally escaped during the season 1 premiere. She covered Equestria in "eternal darkness", which Twilight Sparkle and her new friends quickly stopped and reformed Nightmare moon back to Luna.
Her cutie mark is a moon crescent on a purple splodge, simmilar to her Luna form.
