Looking for mate!
Well, I originally designed these 4 as an adoptable, but I fell in love with them all and decided I would keep them for myself (shellfish).
But I decided I'd put this picture up and if you're a friend of mine who has a lion without a mate, then you can ask to be a mate of one of these. When I say a friend, I mean someone I've maybe spoken to quite a lot and can trust. Here's some background info on the 4 of them.
Fleur
Fleur was born in a french circus and named "Flee" as part of her act was too run and jump like she was a flee.
She was rescued by animal welfare people, who took her to a national park near the pridelands in africa. She was still only a cub so they kept her in a solitary compartment for a while, giving her one on one care. She fell in love with flowers, and because of her french background, her rescuers called her Fleur. Life was all well and good for her, but she didn't like that there was a dead end to the world. Her owners realised this and when she was a teen, they realised her into the wild national park, where she was welcomed into a pride. One of the eldest lionesses pitied her and adopted her as a daughter. She lived her in peace for a while, until she decided to go for a walk. She walked a long way, until she reached the end of the park, the fence. She fealt it again- the resentment of being trapped. And decided she could be trapped no longer. Without even saying goodbye, she ran until she found a way out- a tree which leaned high over the fence, and left the park.
She wandered for days until she found a pride. Their leader was called Thishio, and he was very nice. He told her many tales of the pridelands, and she was fascinated.
So one day, she set out to find the pridelands. There she met many friends and decided to stay there.
Malaya
Found by a young Zira under a bush, and named Mabaya (meaning bad), she looked to Zira, who took advantage of their similar appearance, as an older sister, but when a lioness found her walking alone, after being sent hunting by Zira, and claimed to be her mother she refused to believe it.
But she couldn't ignore how similar she looked to her and over about an hour, she managed to change her mind. Mabaya, still a cub, decided to leave and live with this lioness. The lioness hated that her cub was called Bad and changed her name to Malaya.
Malaya's mother told her the whole story, about how they had been walking together and hyenas had attacked, she had hidden Malaya and when she returned to find her gone, expected the worst. They lived together in a pride and Malaya met a young lion. They had two cubs together, Ajali and Uzuri.
Zira tracked her down, and as revenge and anger at how her own cub, Nuka, had turned out, stole Ajali and Uzuri, renaming them Kovu and Vitani. The lion she had been with disappeared suspiciously and was never heard from again. Then her mother died. Malaya realised something was seriously wrong, and went to find Zira, by that time (about a year later) she received news that Zira was dead, but that Ajali and Uzuri lived on.
She met them and explained all that happened and they all cried, and laughed about what they had missed of each other. Malaya was still only a young lioness and her and her mother decided to stay at pride rock for the rest of their days. (Both the mate who goes missing, and one she meets in later life are open)
Dawna
Dawna was born into a happy family in a lush paradise. She became quite spoilt, and when her parents told her she needed to find her own place, she didn't realise what a shock she was in for.
Firstly, she could not hunt for her life, secondly she cried when she stood on the smallest thorn and finally she had never had to work for anything, so she wasn't really cut out for living wild alone.
One day, she was trying to hunt, a saw a large blob in the grass. She thought it was some kind of sleeping antelope and saw it as easy prey. She dived on it and started attacking it. Only for it pin her down, and growl in her face.
That was when she realised it was a lion. She apologised and he simply laughed. He was a lot older then her, had many scars on his face and body and she noticed he seemed to have quite a bad limp. He asked her why she was alone and explained her situation, he merely laughed again. She saw him as a friend, and stuck round with him.
He said his name was Mega and he taught her quite a lot, he was a wise lion who had been a medicine lion before retiring. One night they were sleeping beneath the stars, when he awoke from a dream, telling them that Dawna had to return to her parents, and they ran to where they would be. They could find nothing but blood and fur, and the smell of hyenas.
As Dawna cried, the old lion comforted her and they walked far, in no certain direction, until they reached the pridelands. Where they met Simba, and they went into the guest cave where they slept. They decided to stay there and eventually, Mega passed away. After his funeral, Dawna decided to find her own way in the world as a medicine lion, and was apprenticed by Rafiki. She took over after him, and got very good at climbing trees!
Thistle
Was born as a princess in a regal pride that was well known all around. From the moment she was born onwards, everyone who saw her was blown away by her beauty and rare pelt colour. Thistle liked the compliments, but sometimes she hated that others thought she was so different to them- almost alien.
One day, her parents organised a great ceremony, in which she would be shown her most highly-regarded suitors. All of the boys were just snobs trying to impress her, and they only liked her for what was on the outside, they didn’t know a thing about her personality so half way through, she excused herself and ran.
She was crying in a bush when she heard a male’s voice asking her if she was okay. She screamed to go away, that she wasn’t just a pretty face and that there was more to her then what he could see on the outside.
She turned round to see a lion she had never seen before, looking very hurt. And to her horror, realised he was blind. “I’m so sorry” she cried and explained what had happened. They were good friends, and after that met up a lot. They even began to feel something more for each other- love. But she knew her parents would never accept him purely because he was a rogue.
One day she went to meet him, but didn’t realise she was being followed by a lion who wanted to marry her. He saw the blind lion and decide he’d trick him. He coaxed him into coming closer, by pretending to be hurt, then killed him, leaving Thistle to discover his body.
Thistle was horrified especially when the lion (who she by then had figured out had killed her love) was to be her husband. She ran away and lived alone for weeks, then, her mind set on revenge she returned. She killed the lion and all the other lions she suspected hated her love and went off to live in the mountains, she blended in with the snow there so she never got caught for her murders.
She loved the snow because she felt as if It was the only place she belonged.
(She’s inspired by kissin’ kate from Holes ?) I’m designing the blind lion, but anyone else is welcome to design a mate she perhaps meets in the mountains.
