Hira Nur was enjoying the view from the back of Harak, who was following at the tail end of the herd. From her perch the air seemed sweeter. "When will you get off my back?" Harak asked. "I'm sorry, was that a question directed at me?" Hira Nur responded, knowing full well that it was but taking a jab at her friend nonetheless. "Your majesty?" Harak added after a sigh. Hira giggled from her perch. "So long as this crown is atop my head, I will not be subject to walking as any mere peasant." From ahead, she could hear the chorteling of Esme and Beele. The two elephants slowed their pace to match Harak's. "Maybe you shouldn't have bet against Hira Nur." Beele told her brother with a smile. The male elephant returned the smile, though it did not reach his eyes. "Hira Nura, my Queen, will you grace me with a crown as well?" Esme pipped up with her high child voice. "But of course, my dearest sister!" Hira responded. "As the princess of this herd, you must receive your crown as well."
"Thank you, my Queen!" Esme said, running ahead to catch back up with her mother. "Why exactly do you insist we call you 'Queen'?" Harak snorted. "You never know." Hira Nur responded with a shrug. "My mother never spoke of her home land. What if I'm a long lost princess? A Queen, even." Harak rolled his eyes but said nothing.
@}---- I had this idea in my head that Harak and Hira were in competition to see who would be "taller" and because she's a smart cookie, Hira climbs a tree taller than Harak, thus making her "taller", and as per their agreement, he has to carry her around and address her as a Queen as he initially made fun of the idea that she could ever have been born royalty.
