Due to a hot summer, Mohatu sends his mate out to find a place of shelter, while he stayed home and dealt with the complaints of the animals. Somehow, the animals thought he could control the weather.
Being the good son that he was, Ahadi volunteered to accompany his mother on her quick journey. This was partly due to him missing his sister, and just wanting his Mom around, but the main reason he insisted was that he had already heard of a place south of the Pridelands, filled with lush green grass and green trees that provided shelter from the scorching sun.
Hence, mother and son found themselves leaving the Pridelands, and together. Ever since Hiari, the queen's daughter, left due to a betrothal in another pride, Kamaria felt like she hadn't had much time to spend with Ahadi, since he was mostly with his father now, learning to become a king. So, she relished this opportunity to be with her son again. Times like these took her back to the years when they were just tiny cubs, scampering around at her feet as she showed them their homeland.
A few days later, they found themselves coming across the place Ahadi had heard about, and it was true. Only two short days' journey from Pride Rock, this place was paradise. It was the perfect place for the animals to come to if needed.
''Still,'' Ahadi cut in, ''we need to make sure only a few herds leave at a time. If they all leave, then the predators won't have anything left to eat.''
''Well done, my son.'' she praises him. ''We'll surely add that when we make the announcement. There is plenty of shelter in the Pridelands, but not enough. Those who are unable to find shelter can come here.''
''Even the predators?'' he asks.
''Even the predators.'' she confirms. ''Come, we have rested enough. We must go back and help your father, or he'll get overwhelmed again.''
Ahadi chuckled at that. He knew the entire story of how his parents met and how they fell in love. Well, they didn't ''fall''. They built a love, out of an unlikely match and an arranged pair-up. His mother believed that this was one of the purest forms of love, and it lasted way longer.
She noticed the way her son was awkwardly standing to the side. ''Ahadi?'' she said. ''What's wrong?''
"It's just...'' he softly said. ''It's everything. Me being named the Crown prince, Hiari leaving for the Mountain pride; everything. And Dad's already looking for a lioness to be my mate, and I'm not sure I'm cool with that move.''
She paused for a moment and then gave a sigh. ''Ahadi,'' she softly explained, ''Just because your father and I had a different relationship doesn't mean you're going to go through the same thing. Everyone has a different story to tell. But I do know one thing. Whatever you decide to do, I know you will make the right choice.''
He smiled at his mother, her advice sweeping over him and filling him with happiness. He definitely missed his mom, alright. ''Thanks, Mom.''
''You're welcome, my son.'' she said, fixing him with her green gaze, taking in how much he'd grown over the years. She could very well envision him on the throne. ''I'm proud of you.''

Just a tiny image 'cause whatever I was working on earlier got deleted and now I have to find everything and stuff.
I'm just trying to see just how well my version of Ahadi would suit with renders. I've tried making him as alike to Mufasa as I could. I've even given him Mufasa's eyes, even though that took a good 15 minutes to adapt and stuff. But I like how he looks.
And this image just gives me butterflies.
Hope you guys like it.
