So Fast
The brown king sat upon a rock, his orange gaze never shifting, never blinking. His gaze was focused, straight and sad.
The queen sighed, not able to bear seeing him like this. Taking a deep breath, she walked up to him and sat beside him.
''Kamaria? When did it get to this?''
She perked up her ears and looked at him, following his eyes as a delightful laughter found her ears. His woeful orange eyes were set on a couple, a lion with a black mane and a brown lioness.
''What do you mean, Mohatu?'' she asked.
''When did they grow up? Seems like only yesterday they were waking me up before the sun was even up to take them to the waterfalls.'' he sorrowfully said.
''Children will always grow up, my love.'' she softly purred, pressing herself against his thick mane.
''But so fast?'' he asked. ''No one told me. Now Hiari is a mountain away and Ahadi is already in love. It's been barely a few years since they were cubs.''
She laughed. ''Mohatu, as charming your fatherhood blues are, you need to realize that our cubs are growing up. They both have bright futures.''
''Hm?'' was the distracted hum of her mate's voice. She rolled her eyes.
''Hiari is due to be queen soon, and she will make a fantastic ruler, in my opinion. And Ahadi's found his first love...''
''So fast.'' Mohatu interjected. Kamaria rolled her eyes.
''Be happy for him. Because it looks like he and Uru are getting pretty serious now.'' she says. ''That was the future I envisioned for my son and daughter: a calm, quiet life, a loving mate and playful cubs.''
She looks at him and he turns his gaze finally to her. ''Time will always be fast, my love.'' she says. ''But the only thing we can do is to make it last, and then hold on to the memories.'' She nuzzled him. ''Besides, we still have time. A few more years till Ahadi takes over, and then a few more till we pass. We still have a lot to teach our son and Hiari will visit as frequently as possible.''
''So, what are you saying?'' he asked.
''Make those moments last, Mohatu, even if they last only a minute.''
He softly smiled at her. ''You are really a wise queen.''

Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. I had my final exams and now they're finally over! So, I'll have a lot more time.
This was a slight experiment with shading and stuff. I think it came out pretty well. And I'll also be practicing my drawing, so expect more sketches like the one of Mufasa and Sarabi. (Drawing Simba, Nala and Scar is so tough!)

Thanks a lot Brown^^ It was actually inspired by my own family. Ever
since my fifteenth birthday, my dad's been all about trying to make me
younger again, and he's been dealing with accepting that I'm growing
up. He's probably in Mohatu's state right now XD |

Your experiment came out more than well, Six, it came out successfully
well. I love the story behind this one. You can really feel the
hesitation and reluctance Mohatu is dealing with at his children, er,
cubs, growing up and how tough it is for him to accept it. But I think
even he knows it was bound to happen sometime, but SO SOON!? XD |
