''What am I going to do?'' Mohatu asked his mate. ''I won't be around forever, and I need to choose an heir, but both of them are extremely capable. Both Ahadi and Hiari show extreme capabilities to run the kingdom in a fair and mature way.'' ''But isn't it tradition that the eldest child inherits the kingdom?'' she asked. ''It is, Kamaria, but I will not follow it. I got to be king because of the same reason, and my father hardly let me spend any time with my friends and siblings. It tore us apart. That is why I haven't declared my heir yet. I want both of them to enjoy their childhood as much as they can. I will not pull them apart, Kamaria. I won't be my father.''

In my version, Mohatu is chosen as the heir by his birthright as the first child, but this drives a wedge between his family when he is unable to spend any time with them due to king training every second of the day. After his father passes away, Mohatu resolves to not be his father and to test his children should he ever have more than one. So, yeah, he's tests Ahadi and his sister and finds both of them to be excellent choices. Not knowing what to do, he confides in his mate, who knows the royal ways since she was a princess.
I am loving this new rendering style! I decided to render Mohatu and his mate because I had a story forming when I saw this picture. A little extra attention to the whiskers and a bit of experimentation with the Dodge/Burn tool gives out extremely realistic eyes^^ Notice I gave her green eyes instead of hazel like her daughter's. I wanted her to have some different color and that her daughter inherits her eye color from Mohatu's side of the family, somehow.
Oh and I named Mohatu's mate Kamaria and his daughter Hiari. They will both be up soon.
Mohatu belongs to Disney
I love the struggle Mohatu is going through when it comes to who will succeed him, but I think he's making the right decision.
