The Auni set out on their first patrol with young Subiri, (apprentice of the twins Drummer and Lynnie) who was filling the pawprints of the banished Zeke.
Baby Wafa tagged along, riding upon Drummer's head/ Although he was no longer a baby, the vervet monkey still went by this name - he was so small it was hard for anyone to drop this habit.
. . . And Roscoe came too, persuaded by siblings Drummer and Lynnie - their young brother had become rather distant after his ordeal being Lagiza's prisoner and the trauma had lasted even into his adolescence. The young lion slunk along behind the patrol, in his own world.
The Auni travelled far, seeking signs of danger to their pride the Isu Keeney. Luckily, there were none. All was calm.
Subirir panted along, eager to do well. The older Auni members seemed so fit and capable but he - he didn't feel up to standard. He was gasping slightly as they all scaled the rocks that stood at the base of the territory's iconic waterfalls. Was he unfit to be part of the little squad? Even Roscoe, not part of the Auni, seemed unhindered by the distance travelled, mooching along at the rear.
'Hey, kiddo, chill . . .' Subiri looked up at Drummer's voice. His mentor had stopped and was looking at him anxiously. 'What's up?'
'I -' Subiri faltered. 'I'm not sure I'm good enough . . .'
'Nonsense!' Lynnie cried. 'You started not a few weeks ago! Of course you'll feel a bit tired considering the miles we've come.'
'You'll be fine, champ, really,' grinned Drummer. He looked back at the rest of the Auni - Kelele, Keira, Kyle and the leader, Comoros - who had stopped ahead of them, waiting. 'Right, guys?'
The Auni shouted words of encouragement.
'Give yourself time, Subiri,' called Comoros, smiling. 'You've the right stamina, bravery, intuition - it just needs to be strengthened. You'll fit right in.'

Just a little scene showing the new recruit (after Arielle 'retired'), Subiri :)
I hope I got all their ages right! O.O
