Kopa's Story 1
This is my version of Kopa's life.
Kopa was born. He was to be King of the Pridelands someday and he loved his father Simba and his mother Nala.
Zira had recently been exiled for the near murder of her and Simba's cub (pictured in my 'Character Designs' image). She was angry at Simba and wanted revenge.
Nala loved her son and she knew Simba was over the moon again after Fluffy went away. Zira could see this joy and knew she had to act.
Kopa had a few friends, but none in the Pridelands. Instead, he would go to the border between the Pridelands and the Outlands and meet with Vitani, Kovu, Nuka and other friends. Kopa became particularly drawn to Vitani and they became the best of friends. He even started to fall in love with her!
Zira once caught Vitani with Kopa and had her punished. She knew she had to act now, before Vitani got too close to her enemy.
One night, Kopa was out strolling to find Vitani. He had organised a meeting place and hour with her so they could talk and stargaze. Once he had reached the place in the Shadowlands, Kopa called out for Vitani. No reply came. Instead he heard an evil laugh.
"Vitani isn't able to come tonight." growled the voice.
"Why?" asked Kopa. "Who are you?"
"Her mother. She also told me to tell you that she hates you!"
"Vitani doesn't hate me!" Kopa cried. "She loves me!"
"I'm her mother, she told me."
Kopa began to cry. "She loves me! I know it! Anyway, she says her mother is in a faraway kingdom. Zira isn't her real mother!"
With that remark, Zira crept out from the shadows.
"How did you know you little scoundrel!" she roared.
"Vitani knows! She remebers her mother going and you scooping her and Kovu up. Her name isn't really Vitani either. Her name is Uzuri - you changed it. Kovu isn't Kovu. He is Ajali!"
"How do you know this?!"
"Dad told me! Their father, Kukosa, is a frequent visitor to Pride Rock. He mentioned the missing cubs and described them to me. I knew they were Vitani and Kovu because of their appearance and Vitani's memories!"
Kopa sniffed and backed away. Then he leapt at Zira with a yell.
"You hate them! You hate me! You hate my father! You even hate your own son! You hate everybody!"
"How dare you!" Zira spat. She lunged at Kopa. She scratched his face hard.
"You only love yourself and Scar. He is dead. Look to the future!"
Zira trod on Kopa's tail, pinning him down. She leant towards his face.
"I am looking forward towards the future. A future without you and your pathetic father!"
"No!" Kopa screamed and started to attack Zira's leg.
Kopa's 'No' travelled far out to Pride Rock. Simba, who was still awake, heard it and recognised it was Kopa. He didn't want to wake Nala or the other members of the Pride, so went alone to help his son.
By the time Simba arrived, Kopa was bleeding and several gashes were across his side.
"Kopa..." he murmered.
No sound came from Kopa.
"No... no... you can't be... Kopa please wake!"
But it was no use, Simba knew it.
"The circle of life must continue. I'll speak to your star, son."
With that, he turned and left.
But someone was in the shadows, watching the scene. After Simba left they came forwards and started to lick the blood away.
