Miracle of Life
Lutalo waited outside Pride Rock for his father. He had no idea why his father had taken the day off king duties to walk with him. Heck, he had backed out of being the future heir.
These very thoughts ran through his mind as he saw the huge brown lion come up to him. Kovu had grown a lot in the years. Now he had a large build sort of like Simba and his eyes sparkled with wisdom which he had obtained while Lutalo and Fayola were growing up.
Kovu went over and stood by his son. ''I see you're ready.'' he said, starting forward. ''Come with me, my son.''
Lutalo followed his father without saying a word, mainly because he didn't know where his father was taking him. To his surprise, Kovu was taking him to the area which had recently suffered from a fire and had left the land bare.
On the way, Kovu told his son the story of his great-grandfathers. ''Scar was a lion with a lot of potential, but he let his hate overcome him. In the end, his lack of control over his emotions destroyed him.''
Lutalo spoke for the first time since they had left Pride Rock. "I can't believe anybody would do that.'' he said, his voice barely coming out.
Kovu nodded at him. "I acted the same way you did when your grandfather Simba told me this very story.'' He looked around him. ''I learnt a lot from him. You can too, if you listen to him.''
''But, I'm not going to be king anymore. Fayola is going to be queen instead.'' Lutalo protested.
''That doesn't mean you shouldn't know what your life is made up of.'' Kovu sternly told his son. ''I told your sister about the miracle of life. I will tell you the same.''
''The miracle of life?''
Kovu pressed his paw into the ground without his son knowing. ''You see the damage the fire did around you, don't you? Well, there's always something surviving, and it can also grow to be better than the generation before.'' Kovu and his son bent to the ground to examine the tiny plant Kovu had uncovered. ''If it's given a chance.''

Lutalo got a picture with his mother, so why not with his father? This is set right after Lutalo backs out of being king and his father is explaining to him the 'miracle of life'. He'll of course know about the circle of life, but maybe not about the miracle of it.
