History of the Outlander Pride
The Outlander pride lives in the Outlands, a desolate place where grass grows minimally, and food is scarce. Despite this, the Outlander lions can thrive in this environment. They are much dirtier, and more rugged than any other lions, and are characterized well by their dark coats. All Outlanders that have descended from their pioneering relatives have dark coats.
When Kanika shows up, she is treated as an outcast, but wins the alpha lion's eye after his mate dies. He is much older than her, but he still takes her in as a mate, and together they produce several cubs before his death. Kanika, afterwards, takes his son up as a mate, and they continue to produce cubs up until Kanika's death.
This intermingling between the Outlanders and Kanika, who carries Mohatu's blood in her, results in a change in future Outlander lions. They are not as dark as their ancestors, and are usually seen as dark beige or brown, though there are still dark lions and lionesses being born in. The gene pool has gotten bigger, and Outlander lions can now survive longer. They no longer mate with their relatives, and instead take on rogues to mate and produce cubs with.
And that is the history of the Outlander pride.

Nama - Yeah, I tried to explain there being a reason why a lot of the
Outlander lionesses had different colors in the movie, since there
were some who were brown and others who were dark-colored. Kanika was
the matriarch that changed the ways the Outlander pride operated, as a
result of her having genes that came from another lion not in any way
related to the Outlanders. |
