Leena sent Chike on ahead .''I need you to report this to Zazu immediently.''Chike nodded and dashed off. Shani was left alone with Leena, they were silent as the walked back.
Leena glanced at the cub.''Shani..Are you alright..?'' Her voice soft.
Shani lowered her head to the floor.''Why did you do that?'
Leena blinked.'' A lioness must alway's protect the cubs..'' She sighed.''I could not let you and your friend be hurt, Kovu would be distraught..''
Shani looked up at her, and leena was surprised to see tears in the cubs eyes.''But, you know I don't like you!''
Leena sighed.''That does not matter.. You are Kovu's daughter, and I am not your mother, but I am the one who has to watch her in her place.''
Shani blinked.
Leena sighed again.''Do you think I am trying to replace Kiara? Because I am not, I am only trying to care for you and our brother like you our my own... I owe it to Kiara, I took enough from her already..''
Shani looked away, eyes wide.
Leena moved closer.'' I do not expect you to suddenly begin liking me because of this, but I want you to know that nothing will hurt you while I am here... and one day maybe you can talk to me about how you feel..''
They approached Pride rock, and just as they saw a frantic Kovu dash towards them. Shani mumbled quietly.''..Thank you..''

I wanted to show how the relationship progresses, they are by no means perfect and SHani is still not liking Leena that much, but It's a start.
