A New Beginning
Kobee pawed at Kima’s face, his large eyes were engulfed with both curiosity and wonder. He looked around and then let out a piercing giggle as he shoved his tiny paw up Kima’s nose. Kima snorted; he pulled his head away awkwardly and then raised an eyebrow at the small cub. He had only known Kobee for three hours maximum, and already he was overwhelmed with both adoration and terror. He had no idea how to raise a cub, he wasn’t a parent, and his rogue lifestyle wasn’t exactly ideal for an infant. Kima let out a long, exasperated sigh and then turned his attention out to the sunset. The concept of being this tiny cub’s whole world made his head feel light.
Looking back down at the tiny face that was smiling up at him, his mouth curled into a slight smile. The sight of Kobee’s radiating innocence was somewhat reassuring for Kima and he grunted playfully at the cub. Nuzzling Kobee’s forehead with his muzzle, he breathed in the scent of the infant.
“We’ll be alright,” The words fell easily from his parted lips and a gentle coo was present in his raspy voice. “Won’t we, Kobee?”
