Kiara was pacing back ad forth at pride rock, with Nala next to her, worried about Kovu.
Kiara - What if something happened to him? The pride needs him, I need him!
Nala - Kiara, calm down. I'm sure that he's OK. His bodyguard is one of the strongest males I know.
Kiara - Look! Someone's coming!
Nala and Kiara watched a familiar figure walking towards the pridelands, looking tired, as if he had been fighting.
Nala - It's Zareh!
They both raced down to Kovu's protecter and Kiara immediately started to panic.
Kiara - Zareh, what's happened? Where's Kovu.
Zareh - I'm so sorry, Kiara...
Zareh looked down at the ground with tears in his eyes.
Zareh - When we were out these lions started to surround us... Sally was with them, and she mentioned something about taking what was rightfully hers. She then leapt at Kovu. I tried to tear her off of him but the lions started to attack me and I was knocked unconsious, but I tried my best. When I came to...
Kiara - No...
Kiara had tears in her eyes. Zareh was sobbing quietly.
Zareh - Yes. I saw Kovu's body, ripped and torn, completely mauled, with his blood all around him. Sally and the others were nowhere to be seen. I woke up to late... I did my best but I couldn't save him... I'm so sorry, Kiara. I failed.
With this Zareh dropped to the ground, exhausted. Kiara was sobbing desperately into her mother's shoulder.
Kiara - NO! KOVU!
Nala - Come on, Kiara, let's get you home.
Nala lead Kiara back to pride rock, ordering some nearby females to carry Zareh. Kovu would be joining Mufasa and would watch over the pridelands from there as a star at night for the rest of his life.

Introducing Zareh, Kovu's proteter. You see, soon the pridelanders knew that someone was out to kill Kovu, so they decided to have someone be with him at all times. This was Zareh. But he failed to protect Kovu when Sally ambushed them. And you can be sure that Sally finally fufilled her main goal: to kill Kovu
