A regretful truth.. (BtS)
Several nights after the loving talk she had with Kopa, Kiana found herself in the savannah alone.
Kiana was searching for a meal to bring home to her mate, as a late night snack, a little surprise for him.
Kiana was practically prancing through the savannah, enjoying the stillness of the night.
She was approaching a small herd of addax when out of the corner of her eye, she saw bright colors dancing through the sky.
Kiana gasped, instantly forgetting about her prey and focused on the lights.
"Rafiki's magic lights!" Kiana exclaimed under her breath.
She giggled hysterically and started following the lights, a hopeless attempt to catch them. She would jump up and down, pretending to leap out and touch them.
They started out almost as low as a fog, but as she chased them, they slowly descended into the sky. Kiana scurried to catch them, desperately climbing up a tree and running out to it's extended branch.
She watched the lights flutter above her in the sky, and she smiled wide watching them. These lights brought her so much happiness, they reminded her so much of the Upendi Festival she went to not even a week before.
Her brown eyes glowing as she recalled that wonderful night, and then suddenly Kiana's memories faded to the thoughts of Kobee.
How Kobee stared back at her when Rafiki made his 'mistake'. The way Kobee stared at her ever so tenderly was forever going to be in Kiana's heart when she saw these lights.
Kiana's heart started beating in a panicked pace, why was she feeling this?! Kiana looked down, trying to fight her brain, trying to remove these thoughts from her head.
After a while, she gave up. She looked back up at these wonderful lights with concern glossing over her beautiful brown eyes.
Kiana sighed deeply to herself before carefully jumping off the branch, landing on her feet softly.
She started walking back towards the den, her head hung low. She no longer felt like hunting.
She walked with regret.. for she knew that the most beautiful thing she had ever seen, these beautiful lights in the night sky... will always and forever, remind her of Kobee..
