Kiana was ecstatic. Just earlier that day, her pride had merged with Simba's, something she had been waiting for literally her entire life.
Kiara, Kiana's dearest friend, married Kovu and bonded the Outlands and the Pridelands. Expanding Simba's empire.
Kiana's land was close to the border of Simba's Pride, and they promised to merge when Kiana was of age to marry the prince Kopa.
When Kiara married Kovu, it pushed Simba to rush the marriage of Kopa and Kiana, after all, Kiana was older than his own daughter Kiara.
So the merge took place. Kiana and Kopa's marriage was to take place the following spring, which was indeed the next season. But Simba allowed the pride to come earlier.
The day of the merge was a great day, sunny with only a flew clouds dancing in the sky. Kiana was glowing with happiness. The pride she loved was now hers to call home.
Simba had ordered all the lions to come to the den at sunset, and Kiana was not one to disobey the king.
Kiana was at awe in just how many lions Simba was in charge of. His hunting party was huge, it was no wonder this pride was an empire.
When both Kiana and Kopa arrived to the den, Simba greeted everyone with a soft smile. His eyes glistened with happiness.
Kiana smiled to her king, waiting happily for him to start talking.
Simba cleared his throat and announced to his pride, ''It is time to announce the engagement of my son to the kingdom..''
The lionesses behind Kiana cheered happily. Kiana's cheeks grew warm and her head sunk in embarrassment. She looked over to Kopa out of the corner of her eyes, and she could see his uneasy smile. She blinked hard and her eyes met the ground in defeat.
Simba coughed and interupted the cheering. His red eyes nudged over his shoulder to the well-aged baboon Rafiki.
Rafiki walked over to Simba and smiled to him, Simba returned the gesture and then stepped aside, allowing Rafiki to have the center of attention.
Rafiki's hand pointed over to Kiana and with his other hand he pointed his staff to Kopa. He cleared his throat and said, ''It is time.''
Kopa was the first to stand, and when he stood onto all four, he looked over to his betrothed bride.
Kiana regained her perfect posture and stood onto all haunches. She looked over to her prince and smiled sweetly, her brown eyes glowing.
Kopa returned the smile and winked to her.
Kiana wrinkled her nose and looked away shyly.
Rafiki smiled to the couple and walked towards the edge of Pride Rock, the couple shortly behind them.
Rafiki stood at the edge and did a few exaggerated gestures with his hands, reaching out to the Great Kings.
A strong breeze started to pick up, along with the sound of the animals below.
''Are you nervous?'' Kopa whispered to Kiana.
Kiana had her head high and her chin higher. She swallowed her emotions and nodded to her prince.
Kopa nodded and admitted, ''Me too..''
Kiana gasped and looked to Kopa, she never heard of Kopa admitting something that made him look unfit to be a king. He was always so smug. Why did he feel this way? Was she not good enough for his standards? How could that be? She trained her entire life for this, he was so ungrateful she was a great catch!
Her thoughts were interupted when Kopa said with a chuckle, ''Well that's our cue..''
Kiana looked up and saw the Rafiki was gesturing for them to step to the edge.
Kiana swallowed hard and stepped with her soon to be lover.
Upon reaching the edge, they were greeted with trumpeting of elephants, screams of monkeys, and a wide variety of neighing. You could see everything! And everyone welcomed them.
The gust was pushing around the prince and princess, causing a variety of leaves to dance around them.
Shortly behind the wind was a flock of beautiful birds, led by the majordomo Zazu.
Kiana closed her eyes and inhaled this moment. She smiled widely and opened her eyes and looked across the savannah. The beautiful clouds painted blue and pink.
This sunset made the moment breath-taking. She always loved the Pridelands, but never more than she had this very moment. A smile was painted across her face.
Kopa looked over his kingdom, a fake smile smearing his muzzle. His mane blew in the wind and he couldn't help but listen to the empire behind him roaring, cheering for this moment.
He sighed deeply and just tried to enjoy this moment the best he could. ''Just think, next season we will be bonded to this land.''
Kiana smiled and turned to look to Kopa, the uneasy look burning a hole into Kiana's heart.
Kiana cleared her throat and asked nervously, ''That's what you want, right?''.
Kopa's emerald green eyes looked deep into Kiana's mocha brown eyes, his fake smile softened into a real one. His posture melted, her eyes had a way to soften everyone who looked into them. He nodded and said, ''Of course I do, Kiana.. You have always been my best friend.'', he extended himself and nuzzled her lovingly.
Kiana returned the nuzzle with a soft purr, for that second she felt reassured.
But then that second passed and she remember that her and Kopa had grown apart many seasons ago, when he began becoming a flirt.
Her and Kopa stepped back from the edge and walked back towards the mouth of Pride Rock.
Kopa was smiling to his pride -- but most of all he was smiling to his new fixation, Vitani. She returned a glance to him, but hurt was filling her eyes.
Kiana looked over to Kopa and saw who he was focused on, Vitani. She looked over to Vitani and saw the look in her eyes. It was an all too familiar look. A look Kiana often gave to Kopa when he was romancing another lioness. It was a look of hurt, of betrayal. Of 'why not me?'.
Kiana swallowed the lump in her throat, and rejoined her new pride.
Behind her was Rafiki, looking up to the sky and chuckling to the clouds. He looked back down to Kopa and Kiana and shook his head no, but his face was painted with an ear to ear grin.

GOODNESS I'M SO SORRY ABOUT THAT LONG STORY.
I started and I couldn't stop.
Anyways, this is my idea of what Kopa would look like. I got his color from Kiara's and adding some lighter tones. I figured one of the cubs should look like nala, SO I decided on Kopa taking some of Nala's traits. He has her lighter color fur and a light mane. Plus his sapphire like eyes are Mheetu like.
You guys should check out my new character Kiana. My idea for her was simple. I mean, Zazu mentioned in the first movie that it was a tradition for a betrothment to take place. So why was it so different for Simba's heirs? It isn't. I mean, even Simba married his betrothed bride. So Kiana was Kopa's betrothed.
Guys, comment what you think!! :D
