Kamaria just wanted to see what the boys were doing. She was hiding in the bushes, watching the older boys dare each other to jump over the wide river. The water was high due to the rain and there were waves but the boys still tried. If you didn't try you were labeled a coward and if you made it you'd be a hero. Kamaria watched as many boys said no but one tried. He jumped and missed. Falling into the river, the boy screamed. Luckily, his brother was there to help him out before the river carried him down stream. Kamaria took a step but tripped over a tree root. She tumbled in front of the boys, who laughed. Kamaria, trying to avoid trouble, claimed she wanted to try and jump the river. The boys laughed and pushed her to do it. Kamaria knew she had to be brave like her father, Alaji. Just before she started to jump, her father jumped out. He roared loudly, scaring all the cubs. He glared at Kamaria and scolded her.
Alaji- What were you thinking?!
Kamaria- I...I-I'm sorry daddy...I just wanted to....
Alaji- Let's go home.
Alaji grabs his daughter to take her back to the den.
Kamaria- (mumbles) I just wanted to be brave like you..
