Despite their differing personalities, Huria and Walinzi found their common ground with one another, and soon their feelings of friendship turned to those of love. Together, the couple decided to marry, much to the joy of their friends and family, and after their ceremony, life seemed to be perfect. Then, only weeks after their union, Huria was struck with nausea and sickness, feeling so awful she couldn't attend the hunt like she always did. Worried sick about his mate, Walinzi quickly fetched Rafiki to take a look at her, hoping that whatever this sickness was, it could be cured. The old shaman took his time to inspect her before he declared a verdict.
Huria was pregnant.
The couple was completely shocked by the news; they hadn't expected to have cubs so soon into their marriage, after all. They had discussed it, of course, but only just, and they hadn't made any concrete plans for it anytime soon. For Huria, Habari was enough, and she'd felt no need for another litter at her age. She wasn't completely against the idea, just not quite as interested as her mate. Walinzi, on the other hand, was ecstatic once the news had finally sunk in. He loved Habari like his own son, of course, but the thought of growing his family made him giddy with delight, and he quickly took to doting on Huria and their unborn litter.
Though the news was welcome, the pregnancy was easier said than done. When Huria was pregnant with Habari, it'd been so smooth she counted herself lucky. Back in those days, she'd been able to hunt with the other lionesses right up until her due date, and she'd hardly had any symptoms. But this pregnancy was different. Now she was plagued by nausea and aches everyday, hardly able to keep her meals down or find time to sleep with the uncomfortable feeling in her belly. Feeling sick all the time, her mood also began to change; now she was much more irritable and snippy, sick and tired of the aches and queasiness.
Walinzi's worrisome personality did little to help, and she often found herself at the end of her ropes with him, snapping at him whenever it became too much. While his presence was meant to be comforting, she only found it annoying, his constant questions and physical contact making her overly sensitive state even worse. The lion in question was extremely worried about his mate, as was his nature; she was sick nearly every day, and he hated seeing her in such a miserable state. He wanted to help in any way he could, but his attempts almost always ended in her snapping at him and chasing him away. Still, her mood swings and bad health didn't deter his excitement, and he, along with Habari eagerly awaited the new arrivals.
Finally, the time came to give birth. Walinzi had never felt more nervous in his life, both excited yet worried as the birth continued on and on for hours. Rafiki took to helping with the delivery, and though a singular cub was finally born, the complications didn't stop there. Huria's poor health during the pregnancy had greatly affected the cub and herself, and the pair were exhausted after the birth. Their little son was small, very small, and it seemed he was hardly breathing. Huria herself could hardly stay awake, and Rafiki quickly cordoned off the birthing cave, much to Walinzi's dismay. While he knew it was for the best, it didn't stop the fear that he may never see his mate again, nor their cub.
Days passed, and once Rafiki was confident the two had stabilized, he finally allowed Habari and Walinzi in to see them. They were both relieved to find Huria alive and well, and the father and son looked down on the small bundle of fur in her paws. Together, the couple decided to name the cub 'Roshaun', for he had survived such a difficult time like a shining light. Huria and Roshaun continued to stay in the birthing den until she felt strong enough to greet the rest of the pride, and as Walinzi and Huria presented him to their pridemates, their little family was complete.

Woooooooo it's finally done!! This image and the story took me forever, but it's finally complete! I really wanted to do an image of Huria, Walinzi, and Roshaun, and figured this would be perfect.
And, of course, I couldn't help but add the others.
This will be my last image for quite a while as I've just started school back up. I'll try to keep doing digital art, but it seems my classes will keep me busy this year :'(
I really hope you guys enjoy!!
