Secret Siblings

Though Nuka died young, he miraculously fathered two cubs before his death. However, these cubs grew up in completely different worlds. While Huzuni, his eldest, grew up starved and neglected in the Outlands, Kirita was raised in the abundant and lush Pridelands, with kind friends and role models. Her mother, by no means, was very loving, but she'd always had far more than Huzuni.

Once the war had ended, Tiffay learned of her sister and Nuka's passing, and she took pity on her nephew. He had chosen to stay in the Outlands with a few of Zira's former followers, and Tiffay knew what kind of conditions awaited him. For the first time in a long time, Tiffay felt a shred of kindness in her heart, and with permission from King Simba, she began visiting the Outlands with Kovu, bringing food and meager company to her nephew. While Huzuni was grateful for the food, it was clear the two were never close. She did this out of obligation, not love, and the two knew this.

When Tiffay felt Kirita was old enough, she decided it was time she knew the truth. Ever since she had arrived in the Pridelands, Tiffay kept her past, and Kirita's father, under lock and key, and she intended to keep it that way. But, she figured it was time for Kirita to learn of her father and half-brother.

Their first meeting wasn't easy; the two cubs, having never heard of one another, didn't believe it at first. Surely they would've known if they had siblings all this time. But once Tiffay explained it, the two grew used to it. As visits became more and more frequent, the siblings grew closer. Surprisingly, they had a lot in common, and as Kirita learned more of the father she never knew, she shared in Huzuni's grief. Though they lived worlds apart, they became bonded to one another.

Maybe their hearts weren't so different.

And another!! This Outlander kick is almost over, but I've had a lot of fun rendering Kirita and Huzuni's storyline. The description of this one took me a while to write, but I'm pleased with it ^^ Just one more Outlander to go.
