Our sun.
Jabari and Idadi had been together for Three years,For as long as the two could remember they had been trying for a cub but Idadi continued to miscarry. As much as it pained her she could tell that her Husband was getting tired of her. She knew that the only thing that could keep the two together would be a child.
The couple tried and tried again but nothing. Jabari had accepted the fact that his wife was barren and began to ignore her. Idadi couldn't take it any more and only saw one option. There was a legend, Of a Gypsy witch known as Mchawi. She was an old Lioness who many would go to for different reasons. But she was more known for Lioness who wanted To have a cub or To get rid of a cub.
One day Idadi eventually gained the courage to visit the Gypsy witch.
Idadi entered the dark cave -Hello? Is anyone here?-
Her voice had echoed across the cave. Everything went silent until she heard a faint laugh. Idadi flinched -Who's there?-
-No need to fret dear, Its only me- A spark of fire from a branch lit up the cave. The Gypsy witch was walking towards her
-How may I help you my dear?- Mchawi circled around her.
-Well- Idadi Stuttered -I need your help-
The Witch laughed -Of course you do otherwise why would you waste your time being here-
Idadi looked away and sigh -Yes, well-
The witch Interrupted her -Spit it out child, I don't have all day- The witch sat in front of her
-I wish to have a cub. My husband and I have been trying for years-
The witch look at her, -Your husband, Is he bored of you?- Idadi spun her head to face the Witch
-Yes.- The witch nodded
-I'll help but you know that everything comes with a price-
Idadi sighed -I'll do anything-
The witch raised her eyebrow -You're in love with the poor fool aren't you?-
Idadi went Silent.
-Your second child.- The witch mumbled.
-Pardon?-
-The price, if your second child-
Idadi stared at her in shock -Surely there must be another price.-
-You said you would do anything and It does get lonely around here-
Idadi let out a gasp -I couldn't. Please Miss. There has to be another price-
-I'm sorry but there isn't. Either take it or leave it-
-But if its a girl, Jabari would insist on trying again until he gets a male.-
The witch chuckled -Then you should pray to the great kings that its a boy-
-Isn't there a spell you can do to make sure its a boy- Idadi panics
-Nope, sorry.-
Idadi begins to cry, The witch looks over at her and rolls her eyes.
-So child, are we going to do this or not?-
-Yes, I'll do it.-
The witch looks at her in surprise -You really do love him don't you-
-More then anything-
The witch shock her head -This way, Lets get started-
Idadi left after The Witch preformed the ritual. She made her way back to the pride. Idadi convinced her mate to try once more and they did. Months passed and Idadi was expecting her cub. She stayed in her cave to try to avoid stress. Jabari started to pay more attention to his wife more then ever.
When the time came Idadi delivered a healthy cub. When the Lioness Nurses told her that she had a girl, She broke down into tears. She wiped away her tears and looked at the small cub in her paws and smiled. She was perfect, A perfect blend of her parents.
-Ma'am May we bring him in?- said one of the nurses
Idadi let out a sigh, she nodded. Idadi knew there was no hiding this. She began to pray hoping that Jabari would be happy.
Jabari entered with a huge grin upon his face
-My king, A child. As Beautiful as the sun-
-Idadi, Can it really be?-
She smiled and Nodded
-Our Beautiful little sun. Say hello to your daughter-
Jabari went silent.
-Jabari?- Idadi questions her husband
-Daughter?- He replied as Idadi noticed his smile had gone.
-Jabari, I'm sorry- She looked away.
Jabari noticed Idadi's tears. He had realised this was their first child. After losing so many this was the one who survived, His daughter.
-My sun- He mumbled,
Idadi swung her head around and looked at him, He was smiling again.
-Oh, Jabari- She cried as Jabari nuzzled her.
-We'll call her, Jua. Which means Sun- Jabari said as she Laid next to her and Licking his daughter's head gently.
