'Mheetu, be reasonable. You wouldn't last a day out there by yourself!'
'I'd last longer than you,' the male growled with a sniff of contempt. 'And besides, who's to say we'll survive here in the Outlands? You and I both know there's nothing here for us.'
'Nothing here for me, you mean.' Safi sighed. 'I don't understand it. You're Scar's son, a prince! I know that's not too brilliant, but it means you're treated with respect and adoration.'
'That's the thing.' Mheetu's eyes glazed over with pain. 'The Outsiders all adore me, but maybe I don't want to be seen as a prince. I just want to go back to the Pridelands, back to my mother and sister.'
'And what about me?' Safi was close to tears. 'There's nothing for me here - well, I have mother, but we all know her mental state isn't the best.'
'Then come with me, to the Pridelands!'
'And be scorned by the pridesisters like I was when I was a child? Simba wouldn't have me then, what makes you think he'll accept me now that my mother murdered his son?'
This only brought silence, until Mheetu looked her deep in the eye. 'Fine. Stay here and rot. When you come crying to me all skin and bones, malnourished and starving, do you know what I'll say?'
'I wouldn't come crying to you.' Safi murmured, turning away. 'I'd rather die than see your face again.'
