- *Mufasa
Son of Sinzia and Shanjari; brother of Kovu/Scar; mate of Sarabi; semi-mate to Fôkôla; father of Simba and Tama.
From an early age, he was chosen to be King of the Pridelands by Hodari, in spite of Hodari's predecessor choosing Kovu as the next King. He was calm and aloof as a cub, and turned into a spiteful, demanding adolescent, but soon grew out of it. He father Tama from Fôkôla, a lioness from the Highlands, despite his vows to Sarabi as her mate. His brother never forgot who was the true King, and when Mufasa's youngest child, Simba, was a little older, Kovu, now named Scar, murdered Mufasa and exiled the young prince.
- *Sarabi
Daughter of Hodari and Adarza; sister of Naanda, Sarafina, Dwala, Diku/Zira; mate of Sarabi; mother of Simba.
The daughter of the King, Sarabi was betrothed to Mufasa, her father's heir, as was tradition. She and her two eldest sisters were well-loved throughout the Kingdom, and as Queen, Sarabi was worshipped. She loved Mufasa with all her heart, and though she was disappointed when he betrayed her and sired Tama, she was heartbroken when he was killed, but never once suspected Kovu, even though all the evidence suggested he was behind it.
- *Kovu/Scar
Son of Sinzia and Shanjari; brother of Mufasa; semi-mate to Sarafina, Dwala, Diku/Zira and Nala; father of Nuka, Nunka, Vitani, Shetani, Nadra, Mheetu and Inkosi/Kovu.
Overlooked in favour of his elder brother, Mufasa, Kovu often felt left out, and even though his manipulative mother did everything in her power to make him feel appreciated, he led a lonely and depressed life. After his father's death, he lost part of what kept him sane, and his mother saw that as the right opportunity to tell him that he was the true King. When his mother committed suicide, he went over the edge with insanity, and killed Mufasa, exiled Simba, and led the Pridelands into ruin. He had many supporters, lionesses that favoured him over Mufasa and supported his claim, and two of these, Dwala and Diku, gave him heirs that would change the future of the Pridelands. With Dwala by his side, he was beginning to regain his conscience, but when she died in childbirth with Inkosi, his bestial side became known. He was finally killed by Simba, but legacy lived on for an eternity.
- *Sarafina
Daughter of Hodari and Adarza; sister of Sarabi, Naanda, Dwala and Diku/Zira; semi-mate to Kovu/Scar; mother of Nadra, Nala, Mheetu.
The last in her litter, Sarafina was blessed by sheer luck when Hodari decided to betroth her to Kovu instead of Naanda. She was distasteful of her husband, but gave him one daughter as proof of consummation of their marriage. Nala, the younger of her two daughters, was the daughter of a rogue, but her colouration seemed likely enough, and she was betrothed to prince Simba. In her later life, Sarafina gave King Scar a son, Mheetu, but lost him while he was still an infant, believing him to have died in the blaze of Pride Rock. She later died of guilt, refusing to eat or drink.
- *Simba
Son of Mufasa and Sarabi; half-brother of Tama; mate of Nala; father of Chaka, Shani, Aisha and Kiara.
Though he is not a true prince by law (though the Pridelanders do not know this), Simba was seen as a blessing to the Pridelands. He was betrothed to Nala, who became his closest childhood friend and co-saviour of the Pridelands. He had many friends in the Pridelands, but after his father's death, he was exiled, believing that nobody would welcome him, when in fact, the pride mourned his loss, believing him to be dead. Nala later brought him back to the Pridelands, where he saved the pride from Kovu's cruelty, and became King, Nala at his side. He sired four cubs, but his two eldest, Chaka and Shani, were kidnapped by Zira, who wished for her adopted son to be King, as Taka's heir. Believing them to be dead, he had two other daughter, but Aisha, the eldest, ran away when Simba refused a betrothal for her and apparently favoured Kiara, the younger. He lived to see the Outsiders, Scar's supporters, united with the Pridelanders, but was killed by Nunka, Scar's eldest son, during a skirmish over the throne.
- *Nala
Daughter of Sarafina; half-sister of Nadra and Mheetu; mate of Simba; mother of Chaka, Shani, Aisha and Kiara.
The rogue-born daughter of Sarafina, she lived a lie from the moment she was born. Only Sarafina and Kovu knew that Nala was not the Kovu's daughter, and to both her and Sarafina's surprise, Kovu accepted it. She became good friends with Simba, her betrothed, but mourned his loss deeply when (the recently renamed) Scar told them he was dead. Scar became a confidant of hers, and she leaned on him for support. In spite of the pride's belief that Scar was her father, she began to love him in her own way, but was careful to never give him cubs. She mourned him when he died, but her love for him was forgotten in favour of Simba. She gave him four cubs, but was devastated when he was killed by Nunka, Scar's son, and died of grief days later.
