A Talk

Following Baya's death, Hiari is very upset. She doesn't cry in front of anyone, but is more moody than usual. With conflict inside of Hiari, Kovu decided to give her some space to cool down. In that time, Kovu thought more about Hiari and Baya. He couldn't leave Hiari completely alone so, once Hiari was calmer, Kovu decided to have a talk with his daughter.

'Kovu, make this fast, I'm going out again tonight,' Hiari tells him as Kovu leads her off to Pride Rock. It was late at night, but Hiari always did love running around and having fun during this time. Kovu sat down and kind of hunched over. He looked down and sighed. Hiari was confused, and very worried. She sat down next to him and the two remained there in silence, while Kovu gathered up his words.

'I just wanted to let you know....if I knew about you before Baya ran off, I would have..I would have done something. Anything, really. I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you as a cub. Baya was very special. I know I seem like the bad guy, leaving her with a cub, but she never told me. I loved Baya. I wasn't in love with her or anything but I never ever wished for anything bad to happen to her. I just need you to understand that,' Kovu speaks up. He takes a deep breath after his long ramble. Hiari looked at him, in shock. She didn't expect Kovu to say something like that. Hiari didn't know what to say, and she wasn't one to get all mushy and have that perfect Father-Daughter moment or anything. So, Hiari simply gave her father a hug and smile, to let him know that she did understand.
