Uru sensed that Mufasa had left her side. She sighed and tried to slip back into sleep, but a minute later the cub was back.

"I don't know where Taka is, Mom!" the cub said, sounding worried. "He's not in the cave!"

The fear in Mufasa's voice pulled Uru out of her trancelike state. "Taka? He's not here?"

"What about Taka?" came Ahadi's voice as he was roused. "What's happening?"

"Taka! He's not here!"

"Oh, great!" Ahadi got to his feet. "I hope he's not in danger!"

A few minutes later, most of the pride was awake and Ahadi was barking out orders to form a search party. Uru decided that she didn't want to join the main groups: she was the boy's mother, so shouldn't she have better ideas about his location? She drifted down Pride Rock's slope into the grass, not quite sure where she was going. After a couple of minutes of aimless walking, she had an idea. She decided to try...

1/ the northern border. She'd seen him head that way before.

2/ the gorge. People didn't go down there too often, so he would be alone to think, which he liked.

3/ the waterhole. It was a common hangout place, wasn't it?

4/ Pride Rock. Last place you'd ever think to look!
