As Uru sneaked silently back down the trail, her thoughts were roiling. What had happened to Taka? Had he been hurt? Had someone been mean to him? Had (gulp) she been harsh to him without realizing it? Feeling guilty, Uru decided to keep Taka's self-confinement to herself. When a lioness chased her down later that day to report that Taka had gone "missing," she said nothing. She didn't feel like going hunting with the others. The day was uneventful, and she came home later feeling slightly deadened. When she woke up the next morning, though, it felt like a perfectly ordinary morning, and she went about her day with no thought of what had transpired the day before. GAME OVER |
