Kopa opened his eyes and could see the new days light shining outside of the cave. He jumped up excitedly, "Dad!" he began to yell out happily. He ran over to his father, King Simba, who was sleeping next to his mother, Queen Nala. They were snoring loudly. Kopa dropped into a hunters crouch, then leaped onto his fathers back and began jumping around. "Ow!" growled Simba, slowly rolling over onto his back as Kopa jumped off. Kopa bounced around,"It's the morning! You're supposed to show me the Pride Lands!" Simba slowly opened his eyes,"Okay, okay. Let's go." When Simba stood up, it woke Nala, so she stood up as well, then followed them outside the cave. Kopa trotted up the path to the top of Pride Rock with Simba. His father still looked tired, but when they reached the top, he was wide awake. "Kopa, look at everything the light touches." Kopa did so. "Everything the light touches is our kingdom, if the light doesn't touch it. NEVER go there." Simba said carefully. Kopa looked up at his father and said, "Why can't we go to the shadowy places?" Simba sighed,"That's a long story Kopa. It's not a good idea to tell it." Kopa frowned then pricked his ears,"Does it have something to do with Scar?" Simba smiled,"You'll know when you're king..." Then Simba left him alone on top of Pride Rock. Kopa sighed then looked out at the Pride Lands with a bored expression. What should he do next? |
