Prelude…
Scar sighed as he looked across the beautifully lit savannah. But it was the least of the things that was on his mind right now. In fact, the beautifully lit savannah might've been the last thing he would've seen of the Pride Lands, if he decided to run away from this place that he now called home.
Scar shifted his left paw from under the big, gigantic rock that he was now standing upon: Pride Rock. He examined the black paw, thinking of what choice he was going to have to make, and how the consequences were going to play out. He flipped his paw over, then back to see the back of his paw, then slowly put it back down, putting most of his weight on top of it. He gently sighed.
He knew that Ronako was going to ask him if he was coming any minute now, and he knew that he would be truly disappointed if Scar didn't come. I mean, Mufasa especially wasn't going to get this honor, but was this really an honor, and was it the right thing to do to just go? Run away from his life, like a coward, or a hero?
Scar didn't know what to do. He especially couldn't take another day with the two idiot lions in the den behind him, Mufasa and Ahadi. He would surely commit suicide before he took another year of Mufasa being congratulated about his perfect mate, mane, lifestyle, attitude, techniques, and leadership, while he and Ronako were thrown out by Ahadi without mention. While Ronako knew he didn't have it as hard as Scar, he knew that this was no way to live. He also knew his place in everything, like how Scar had a better intellect than him, yet Ronako was presented to have more leadership. Something Scar knew Mufasa wouldn't understand.
And, if Scar didn't run away with his brother, what kind of brother would that make him? To leave his own brother, who, unlike Mufasa, had been with Scar since childhood, out in the wild, to get attacked by hyenas and killed? While Scar didn't want to die that way, he knew he should definitely go. There was barely anything left for him here.
Scar felt a breeze slyly go through the fur in his mane, making him shudder in a slight chill.
Scar turned to his left, starting at the ramp that lead lions off of Pride Rock, and onto the luscious grass that the Pride Lands had to offer. He shuddered once more, as it had rained the night before, and the green grass was wet, cold, and sticky to the touch. It was a soothing feeling, however.
Scar turned back to see his brother coming out of the den. He sighed, knowing what was to happen now.
He never went with him, letting his own brother go. Letting he, himself, to plot against Mufasa.
And it was all Mufasa's fault.
And then Simba was born.
Scar looked down into the murky water at the waterhole, standing next to a lioness known as Sarafina, the mother of the young cub, Nala. Scar knew that he had always had a thing for Sarafina, and he knew that Sarafina had similar feelings for him. But it didn't matter in the end to him.
Scar recognized the features of his reflection, but the reflection itself gave more of Scar away than he would have liked it to. He could see a partial of Ronako, then shuddered, remembering the past all too well:
"Brother, let us go, away from here!"
Scar had sighed, then closed his eyes. "I can't. I don't know why... I just, can't, Ronako. I really will miss you."
"Ohh…" Ronako, for the first time in the longest time Scar could ever remember, was lost for words. Scar sensed the disappointment in his voice.
Scar sighed, making the water below slightly ripple.
"Scar… are you okay?"
Scar was delighted at the lioness's voice traveling through he ears. He actually heard a slight point of seduction in her voice, something that made Scar want her even more.
The thought was short lived, though, as he saw, from his reflection in the water, that the idiot of a lion, Mufasa, was coming from behind him, something Scar really didn't need right now. Simba and Nala weren't following, a slight bonus, though.
"It's unfortunate that Ronako just left us like that…"
And with that, Scar turned around, leapt at his brother, and pinned him down.
"You coward! A true king is everything Ronako once was! And you drove him out of your future kingdom! That must make you some prince!"
Mufasa was, indeed, taken aback by the dialogue that just came out of his brother's mouth. He gasped at first, but then just attempted to get Scar off of his body.
Which gave Scar the scar that would drive him to kill Mufasa for the rest of his life.
Scar turned in disgust from his brother, venturing out to the Outlands to think for a moment.
