Kota stood alone atop Pride Rock, his green eyes darted with anticipation of what was, and what was to come. He had witnessed a very vivid and disturbing dream the night before, and it frightened him. There were strange creatures, walking on two feet and cracks of thunder all around, lions were falling left and right screaming in pain.

"I hope it was not a vision..." He whispered "Of what is to come..."

Meanwhile, Kota's adventourous sister, Lena was stalking him., she pounced.

"Got you!" She cried happily.

"Lena get off of me!" The male cub snapped.

Lena only laughed, her blue eyes glistening with mischef. Kota pushed her off.

"I'm going out, please tell father where I'm going." She giggled.

"Yes, I beleive I should know."

"Father!" The cubs cried.

Kovu smiled and nodded to his daugher, "Where are you going Lena?"

"I want to go to the river and watch the hippos." She said.

Kovu looked surprised. "The hippos? They are very dangerous!"

"I won't go in the water..."

"I don't want you going anywhere near them without me with you." he growled.

"But--" Lena pleaded

"Don't try father's paitence Lena." Kota grumbled.

Lena glared at him, her dark blue eyes blazing.

Lena and Kota were total opposites, Kota was a light tan color, with a dark chocolate tuft of fur on his head, while Lena was a dark brownish-red. Kota was careful and quiet, while his sister was talkative and rebellious, allways getting into trouble.

Kovu left the two cubs in amusement, a smirk on his face, but inside he prayed that Lena would obey him... for once.

Lena watched untill he entered the cave, then began to crawl down the boulders of Pride Rock.

"Lena! Didn't you hear what Father said?" Kota shouted.

The female cub just ignored him.

"LENA!!! GET BACK HERE NOW!!!"

Kota began to pursue his sister.

It didn't take too long to get to where the hippos lived, they were happily splashing in the cool water. Lena watched them in amusement, she was overly impressed at their sise and strength.

"Wow..." She whispered, and slowly edged towards the water.

But a familliar figure blocked her path.

"Kota!" Lena growled.

"Father TOLD you--"

"Just shut up Kota, you are sutch a controll freak!"

"I AM NOT! I won't just stand here and watch you get yourself KILLED!"

"The hippos won't hurt me, I'm future Queen of Pride Rock!" Lena stated.

"Not everyone respects that Lena." Kota snapped.

Lena just pushed him aside and waded up to her chest. Kota cried out and ran after her, as the Hippo Cheif's great head exploded from the water.

"Intruders in my realm!" He bellowed, displaying his lage tusks.

He charged.

"Lena! Move it!" Kota screamed, pushing her out of the way, just as the hippo closed his jaw on his leg.

"Aaaugh!" Kota screamed, as the hippo flung him into the water.

"KOTA!" Lena screamed, as blood filled the pond.

The hippo went for the now unconsuois cub and opened his mouth to finish him.

"LET HIM GO!!!"

The hippo looked to where the terrible sound came from and saw King Simba, Queen Nala, Prince Kovu, Princess Kiara, and the rest of the lion pride standing on the bank.

Slowly the hippo shrank back and allowed Kovu to retreive the cub.

"You good-for-nothing..." Kovu hissed

"Don't waste your time!" Vitani shouted.

Kovu grabbed Kota and waded back the the bank, and hurried home.

While Rafiki nursed Kota's wounds, the quite traumatized Lena saught comfort with her mother.

"It's all my fault mother... father won't speak to me ever again... it's all my fault... Kota's going to DIE!"
