After Simba reclaimed the throne, he continued to stare up at the sky, where he had heard his Father's voice. By then, the lionesses had scattered, and were all huddling in a group together, talking in hushed voices. Simba continued to stay where he was, not even blinking. Eventually, night fell, but it was still raining. Simba walked down pride rock, over to where Nala was standing.

"So now what?" Nala asked Simba when he came over. "Are you going to start rebuilding?"

   Simba nodded.

"Probably," he said thoughtfully. "But we need to check the dead and bury them properly. Round up a couple of lioness for me, please."

Nala dipped her head in respect, and turned around to go gather a couple of lions to do the job.

While she did that, Simba looked up into the stars once again. Mufasa was up their somewhere, along with all the other great king's of the past.

"What am I going to do Dad?" Simba whispered to the stars. "Where do I start?"

As the rebuilding continued, Simba took some time to look over everything. Zazu was busy looking for badly wounded lionesses while Rafiki was treating a few. A couple of lioness were hunting for the dead and burying them. He finally spotted Timon and Pumbaa standing back from all the lioness and lions, looking rather awkward just standing there. Simba walked over to them, confused.

"Why are you guys just standing there?" Simba asked, chuckling. "Come on! You'll be a great help."

Pumbaa looked at Timon nervously, and then back at Simba.

"Well, you see," Pumbaa began. "We kind of miss our old home. Back in the jungle. It was nice there, and no work. Now, well..." Pumbaa looked around. "I've never done work in my life! Ever' day all I had to do was sit down and relax. Me and Timon had the easy life before, but now..." he shook his head in disgust. "It's gonna' be work ever'day. No restin' or things like we used to do now that you're gonna be rebuildin' the Pride."

Simba's smile slowly faded. He knew what they were sayig as soon as Pumbaa began to speak.

"Oh..." Simba's tail drooped slightly and he frowned. "But how are you going to get back to the jungle? Not by walking, surely?"

Timon frowned also, thinking about it a little before speaking.

"Actually, yes we are buddy," he said to Simba. "No other way we're going to get home, right?"

Simba sighed, knowing he wasn't going to convince Pumbaa and Timon to stay.

None of them said anything for quite a bit.

"Okay," Simba said at last. "If that's what you want to do. When are you going to leave?"

Again, they looked at each other quietly for a moment as if having a private conversation. This time, Pumbaa was the one who spoke up.

"We dunno," he said. "We figured we would help you a little bit before..."

"Well in that case, could you help out with hunting for the dead? We need to count how many we lost."

Timon and Pumbaa nodded in usion.

He left them after that, a little heartbroken. Timon and Pumbaa were his best and only friends in the jungle. It was really too bad they didn't want to stay in the Pridelands: they would be a great edition to it.

As Simba began to look over the rebuilding once again, he thought about Scar's followers. They would probably still be trouble even though Scar was dead: with him dead, in fact, they would be a stronger supporter then ever, and would want revenge. Simba knew he had to do something about that.

Suddenly, he got an idea. He bounded up to the tip of pride rock, and called all of the lionesses and lions over.

"My Pride," he began, wanting to get right to the point. "Scar still has followers even though he died. With his death they would be a more stronger supporter then ever of his, and would want revenge. Am I correct?"

Small growls erupted from the gathering lionesses and lions.

Simba nodded confidentally. This was going well.

"I say we ban them from the Pridelands! There is a little section of the Pride we can give to the banished lionesses. It doesn't seem like any plants will grow there, so there will be no prey for them to catch and to grow powerful. They would no longer be a threat. So I need help to round them up for me. After Scar's death, they scattered all over the Pridelands. We can't let them continue to be a threat."

Cheers arose from the assembled lionesses and lions. They were off at once, searching the savannah for any signs of them. After a couple days of searching, they were all gathered up. The followers of Scar stood before Simba, glaring at him with cold, beady eyes.

"So," Simba started. "You were all followers of Scar, eh?"

A greyish lioness with dots beneath her eyes spoke up.

"Yes, we were," she said. "That is, until he made the whole Pride starve. We were just a couple of lionesses and lions who befriended the hyenas. Scar was one of those lions, so we all became friends. We didn't know his true colors."

A murmur of agreement rose along with the greyish lioness words.

Simba narrowed his eyes. He was finding this hard to believe.

"Okay..." Simba paused, trying to figure out what to say next. "Did Scar have any cubs with any of you?"

The lionesses looked at one another in consideration. It was some time until a dull coated brown lioness with a stripe down her back spoke up.

"No," she confirmed. "Although he was quite close with a couple."

It was a big hint, Simba thought, eyes still narrowed. He came closer to that lioness.

"Really?" He asked quizically. "Like who?"

   The lioness rolled her eyes.

"Why should we tell you?" She growled stubbornly. "You're going to have us all banished anyway."

Simba snarled at this lioness. She was pretty tough.

"Yes, you're right," he mused. "I brought you here simply to question you. But it appears to have gone the wrong way... Anyway, this conversation is over. You are all going to a place called the..." Simba paused for a moment. "Outlands."

The lioness who had rebelled against Simba rolled her eyes again.

"I'm assuming we have an escort?" she snarled at him.

"Of course you do," Simba retorted. "Follow me. Nala and Sarabi, come with me."

As they all walked toward the Outland border, the followers of Scar became more anxious. They were all shifty, and kept their heads low, as if ashamed at what they had done. Except the striped lioness: she held her head high, and walked with pride. Simba knew she must have been a loyal supporter of Scar.

When they reached the old Prideland territory sooned to be called the Outlands, Simba stopped abrutly.

"You are officially banished from the Pridelands," Simba growled. "You're not allowed to come within a paw-length of the border."

The new 'Outlanders' all growled at him, disliking the idea of that. Simba, Nala and Sarabi soon left.

"Don't you think you could have given them at least a chance?" Sarabi asked Simba gently. "You never know. Some of them could have been telling the truth."

   Simba gave a low snarl.

"No," he growled. "They were followers of Scar, and that's proof enough that their evil."

Sarabi looked at Nala, and Nala shrugged helplessly. No one was going to change Simba's mind.

The following morning, Simba got up early to check on Timon and Pumbaa. Strangely enough, they were gone!

   "Timon?" Simba called out. "Pumbaa?"

Sadly, they weren't in pride rock, and wasn't found anywhere in the Pridelands. The search parties came back empty handed.

"I'm sorry," Nala told Simba a couple days after Simba found out they were missing. "They seemed to be really good friends of yours."

"They weren't just friends," Simba whispered sadly. "They were family. I can't believe they just left without saying anything."

Nala tried talking to him about it, but nothing would help. Simba was absolutely desperate to get Timon and Pumbaa back. He stayed up all the nights that they had been gone, wondering where they were. But deep down in his heart, Simba knew.

They went back to the jungle.

  -----

Deleted scenes: Originally, this was titled King of the Jungle: Untold Tales and was going to be a whole book. But I figured I would do it in chapters. Also, King of the Jungle is the original name for The Lion King.

Another part is, that the Outlanders weren't going to be banished in here. They were going to rebel or something since Scar was dead. Zira
