~Nala's Story~

Chapter One

As the sun started to set, my mother, Sarafina, called me over for a bath. Usually I would be joyed at the mention of a bath, but ever since Simba's death, I haven't been myself. Sarafina cleaned me thoroughly and looked at me. "Nala, I realize you are upset over Simba, but you have to move on. You can't be mournful for your whole life." Sarafina said with a soothing voice. "I wouldn't take that bet." I said as I rolled over and padded off to be alone. Sarafina watched me walk off and sighed. She looked over to see Sarabi who saw the whole thing. Sarafina bowed to her formal queen. Sarabi walked over to my mother and nuzzled her. "Sarafina, no need for that anymore." She purred. Sarafina glanced at her and sighed. "I know. I wish I could cheer my little Nala up." Sarafina said as she looked in the direction I had left. "In time, my friend, Nala will get over the death of my son." Sarabi said. Sarabi dropped her head and a single tear ran down her left cheek. Sarafina licked the tear off Sarabi's cheek and they both took a walk. I had been watching the whole thing unfold. I padded up to the tip of Pride Rock where Simba said Mufasa and him had talked alot. I floped my small body on the rock and started to tear up. I ended up falling asleep up there. My rest was full of nightmares. My mother woke me up the next morning, and said that she had a surprize for me. I padded behind her to see a baby cub resting in a patch of grass. "Nala, this is your new baby brother, Mheetu." She purred. I walked up to him and layeddown. Sarafina picked him up and placed him in my paws. It was the first time I smiled since Simba's death.

My friend Tama walked up to me as I was having a bath. "Hey Nala, do you want to go visit the water hole?" Tama said to me in a cheery voice. Tama was always cheery. "No, not today Tama. Mabye later." I sighed and walked off. Tama followed me and started talking about all these adventures we where going to have later on when we where older. I started to zone her out and think about Simba. I can  remember the last time I saw him. We where playing on top of Pride Rock when Scar padded up to us. "Ha, pinned ya!" I shouted before seeing his uncle. "Hey uncle Scar! Have you met Nala? She is my best friend!" Simba said to him. Scar glared at me with his cold green eyes. "Hello, little one." He said in a menacing voice. I noticed the scar on his eye. "Simba's uncle, where did you get that ugly scar from?" I asked. "That is none of your business young lady!" He growled. I dropped my ears and nodded. "Anyways, Simba, I have a grand surprize for you and your daddy." He said to Simba. "Oh, awesome! Can Nala see the surprize!?" He asked excidedly. "NO, haha, no." He said suddenly. "Now come Simba. Say goodbye to your, friend." Scar said as he gave me another mean glare. "Bye Nala. Meet me at the water hole at sunset, okay?" He asked. "Sure! See you then!" I replied. We nuzzled, and he and his uncle left. I never saw him again. "Nala, you ok?" Tama said. I suddenly remembered that we where on a walk. "Yeah, I'm ok Tama. I think we should head home now and go to sleep. My mother is probably worrying about me." I said. Tama nodded and skipped home. I trailed behind. When we got to Pride Rock, both our mothers where waiting at the entrance to the cave. My mother engulfed me in her arms and carried me inside the den. We all went to sleep, and I again, had nightmares.

Chapter Two

I have grown up now, and am now in my adolecent years. Sarabi is going to teach me how to hunt for the first time today. We had to travel many miles to reach a suitable hunting ground. On the way we talked about Simba, and Mufasa. We both had to stop and cry a few times at the memories. We reached a lush grassland. Sarabi told me to extend your claws, and feel the earth between your paws so it doesnt shift and make noise. Sarabi lowered her position, and pounced on a plump rabbit. We snacked on that, but we had to get real food. I pointed out a herd of antalope and she saw an injured one. We both lowered our positions, and inch by inch, got closer to the herd. One antalope heard us, and took off, causing the others to as well. "Now!" Sarabi yelled as she ran after the injured antalope. I was just behind her, ready to pounce, when a flashback occured. Me and Simba where playing hunters, and trying to stalk antalope. I stumbled, and tripped over my own feet. I collapsed to the ground and Sarabi rushed over, letting the kill go. "Nala! Are you okay?!" She asked me as she helped me get up. "Yes, I think I am okay, but the herd got away because of me..." I lowered my head in apology, and was surprized when Sarabi's head lifted mine. "No, don't be sorry. Prey get away all the time. Don't worry." She purred and gestured me to follow her to another herd. We eventually killed a wildabeast and dragged it home.

"Ah, congratulations, Nala abd Sarabi." Scar said as we dropped the carcas in front of him and bowed. Scar nodded his head and stared at me. "Nala, I must speak with you. It is about your mother." I shot my head up and nodded. I followed Scar to the top of Pride Rock. I sat in front of him and straightened my posture, like my mother told me to do in front of any king. "Nala, I must first off tell you that this has nothing to do with your mother." Scar said as he stared into my eyes. I shot him a confused glance. "What do you want then, sir?" I said with respect, even though I had no respect for him because of the way he treats the pride. "As you may know, a king has the most power in the land." He said as he circled me. His tail rubbing against my side. My tail flicked in annoyance at his gesture. "But are you aware of what gives a king more power, my lady?" When he said "my lady" I knew where this was going. I tensened up and asked hesitantly, "No." Scar smirked at the answer and went to my front. He sat inches away from me. "A queen." He said before stealing a lick on my cheek. I roared at the kiss. "No, Scar! I will NEVER be your queen!" I snarled at him. I swiped at his face and landed a nice cut. I then ran out of Pride Rock as fast as I could go. "So be it." Scar roared after me as he hatched a menacing plan of revenge.

I was well out of the bounderies of the Pridelands when I stopped. I could smell hyenas not to far behind me. I turned to see at least twenty of Scar's henchmen. I shreaked and ran away, but they followed. I ran into a gourge and was cornered by the hyenas. "Here kitty, kitty, kitty!" One of them said. I remembered the same hyena saying this to me and Simba as cubs. I roared, but it didn't skake any of them. I closed my eyes, ready for the end, when a familular roar came from above me. My mother jumped from the top of the gourge. I smiled, and we started fighting the canines. We eventually lowered their numbers down to about 5 hyenas. I was swiping at three of them when I heard a roar. I turned around and gasped at the sight of my mother getting engulfed in hyenas. I tried to bat them out of the way, but it was too late. I drove the last 5 hyenas away and rushed to my mother's side. Blood was gushing from open wounds in her sides and neck. "No,no no no no stay with me mother!" I yelled. "Nala, stop. It's no use." Sarafina said in a dying voice. "Remember, my daughter, I will always be in here." She pointed to my heart. I layed down next to my mother and watched her take her last breath. I cried next to her for half the night, and fell asleep at her side. In the morning, I brought her to a lush grassland and buried her in flowerd. I roared to her in ceremony.

Chapter Three

I padded slowly home and Scar was waiting for me. In front of him, was the bodies of Tama, and Mheetu. I ran up the the corpses and teared up. "YOU!" I roared at scar. "You killed my mother, and now my brother and friend! I have no one now!" I snarled right in Scar's face. "We both know that's not true, my lady." He smiled and got closer to me. I swiped at his face and ran off again. Tears swelled up in my eyes as I reached a pool. I dropped in front of it and sobbed. I thought of Simba, and remembered how I really felt about him. "Simba, why did you have to die... I never got the chance to tell you how I really feel." I looked into the pool to find only half of my reflection in the pond. I got up and splashed through the water to rid of the reflection. I reached the end of a mysterious jungle and sniffed. I realized I hadn't eaten since Sarabi and I had hunted together. I croutched in the tall grasses and stalked a plump wathog hunting a beetle. He saw the outline of me, but didn't realize I was a lion. He leapt at the beetle, but missed. He then saw I was a lion and screamed. I roared and leapt out of the grass. I chased him throughout the jungle, and he luckily got his rear stuck in some roots. A meerkat poped up and tried to push the pigs rear through the root. I snarled, about to kill the warthog, when a huge male lion countered me. We faught, and I eventually pinned him against the ground. As I was growling at him, he said my name. "Nala...?" I backed off him. I cocked my head. "Who... are you?" I asked. It can't be HIM, that was impossible, he is dead. "It's me." He
