Nala growled furiously. "He doesn't need me, PUH," she murmered. "Stupid little lion! I'm the one that doesn't need him!" She said as she watched Simba walk off angrily with his Uncle Scar. "I hope I never see him again!" She yowled, but knew she didn't mean it. Just then, her friend, Sabrina, walked up to her.

"What's up Nala?" She asked playfully. Then she frowned. "I saw Simba bashing you pretty hard, is everything alright?"

Nala rolled her eyes and whispered, "Yeah, it's all great!" She said sarcastically. "Me and Simba where just, having, well, a break from each other. After all, everyone knows he needs me, and that lionesses are better than lions!"

Sabrina's eyes widened. "He said lions are better than us!?" She boomed. "Yeah right! Simba is cocky and iresponsible. Why are you even dating him?"

Nala sighed. "Yes, he is an iresponsible cub, but I'm betrothed to him. Not my choice to break up. He's my iresponsible cub." She told Sabrina. "Want to go practice hunting along the side of the gorge?"

Sabrina smiled warmly and said, "Thats more like it!" And the two leaped off after some wildebeest at the end of the canyon.

Sarabi licked Sarafina, and said, "Mufasa's mother is coming, the old queen. We have to look out best for the lionesses that come with her, and for her." Sarafina nodded, and licked Sarabi's ear.

"I told Nala to stay away from us for awhile." Sarafina told Sarabi. Sarabi nodded, licking Sarafina's little chin. "She said she was going to play with Simba."

"I told Simba to stay away as well. It sure was nice of Scar to invite his mother here." Sarabi purred, licking some more. "I haven't seen her since the day Simba was born, and that was months ago, and she didn't stick around long enough for me to greet her."

Sarafina nodded, and then gasped, "Look! Here she comes!"

Uru was walking towards them. She looked old and weak, but still very pretty with her blue eyes and brown fur. She had a black diamond on her forehead, and she was smiling. Four lionesses followed her, making sure to guard Uru until she got back to their lands. When Uru saw them, she ran toward them happily. Sarafina and Sarabi did the same, until they bashed heads, purring.

"Why," Uru purred. "It's been so long. I've missed you two hunters in our pride. Oh! Where is my son, and grandson?"

Sarabi closed her eyes, and said, "Mufasa's out hunting, Simba's out playing with his friend Nala, Scar;s daughter." Uru closed her eyes.

"Yes, my son has a daughter. She looked to Sarafina. "What's she look like? The last time I saw her she was pink, having just been born."

"She looks almost exactley like me." Sarafina told her. "I can show you her later if you'd like."

Uru smiled, and replied. "Yes, and I'd like to see the future king too," she looked at Sarabi. Sarabi dipped her head, and said, "Yes ma'am."

Uru lead the way into the den, where the lionesses talked and socialized about the changes in their prides. This is when the stampede started.

Nala wiggled her little body silently, and whispered, "Watch and learn," to her playmate, Sabrina. Sabrina let out a low growl, but Nala hushed it. Suddenly, the wildebeests darted off the ledge down into the gorge. Nala and Sabrina were baffled.

"We must have scared them off," she guessed. "How unusual. I've never scared any prey off that easily."

Sabrina nodded, and whispered, "Niether have I. What did we do wrong?" Nala shook her head, and said, "I don't know, but we can't follow them. Too dangerous." The two girls turned away, and headed back to the side of the gorge. Nala looked down at her paws.

"Nala, are you alright?" asked Sabrina. Nala looked at her friend.

"Yes." Nala replied. "I just feel guilty about our arguement. Me and Simba's."

Sabrina nodded. "Well, I better go, best frand." Sabrina grinned, bumping Nala's shoulder. Nala nodded.

"See ya around!" Nala called after her, watching her friend run back to Pride Rock. She rolled in the grass playfully. Suddenly, she heard something running towards her. Two, things actually. Before she could even raise her head, Mufasa and Scar whooshed past her, leaving her ears blowing in the wind. She ran after them curiously, knowing they hadn't seen her.

When she finally caught up with them, she heard Mufasa yell, "Hold on Simba!" She peeked over the ledge, still aways from Mufasa and Scar. Her blue eyes widened, and her mouth hung open like a deer in headlights. Simba was clinging to a branch, caught in the stampede.

Nala gasped, thinking it was her fault the stampede started. She remembered how they had spooked the wildebeests, causing them to run into the gorge. "SIMBA!" She yelled, but wasn't heard over the sound of the clattering hooves. Nala looked down, and saw Mufasa run into the stampede, seeing that Simba's branch had cracked, and he was now able to be stabbed by a wildebeest horn. She saw Mufasa tumble under some hooves, and thought he didn't get back up. She screamed and ran to Pride Rock to get her mother and Sarabi.

When she got to Pride Rock, she ran into the first lioness she saw and asked, "Where's my mother!?" The lioness shook her head, and kept walking. Nala darted into the den, where she saw her mother with a strange brown lioness.

"Mom!" she yelped, shaking her mothers paw. Sarafina gave Nala a dirty look, and pulled away. Nala bit her tail hard.

"Nala!" Sarafina yelled. "I told you to stay away!" Sarafina growled.

"But Mom!" Nala yelped. "There's a-"
"Why," Uru beamed, "is this my sons daughter, Nala? Why, she's grown so much! And look at those eyes." Uru sniffed Nala, catching her scent.

"Yes," Sarafina said in an irritated voice, "This is Nala, my daughter. Who I TOLD to stay away for awhile!" Sarafina looked at Nala angrily. Nala felt embarrassed. But it was after all, an emergency.

"But Mom," Nala tried to tell her, but Sarafina whiffed and moved her head to the direction of the exit. Nala said, "NO!"

"NALA!" Sarafina yelled. Then she looked at Sarabi and Uru. "I'll only be a moment." She told them. Uru sighed, and nodded. But then she said, "I'll best be on my way. It's a long way back. Nice to catch up you two." And she was gone.

"I told you to stay away!" Sarafina spat, baring her teeth. "Are you bleeding? Are you on fire?!" She asked. Nala shook her head.

"No! Mom, Simba and Mufasa are caught in a stampede!" She screamed. Sarabi rushed out of the cave.

  "What!" Sarabi gasped. "Where!"

Nala Sarafina and Sarabi ran to the gorge. They peered down over the ledge. Nala whimpered as she saw the stampede was over; they hadn't come soon enough. Sarabi frantically jumped down the rocks, but Sarafina held her back.

"No Sarabi!" Sarafina exclaimed. "The stampede might start again." Sarabi had tears running down her mocha colored cheeks as she nodded wearily.

The lionesses just stood there. Nala wanted to jump in and see if Simba was okay. Finally, she looked up at them. "Well? Are we just going to sit here? Lets go find them!"

Sarabi and Sarafina finally nodded, and they leaped down over the rocks. Dust was everywhere, and Nala was coughing and choking alot. She suddenly heard, "Help! Somebody! Anybody!" from a distance. Sarabi and Sarafina ran to the direction of the voice. It was all the way across the canyon, and took nearly twenty minutes to reach. Finally, they arrived at a fallen dead tree.

"There." Nala pointed out. "Thats where Simba was, and where Mufasa fell."

Sarabi inspected the tree, and sniffed it. Suddenly some glowing green eyes bumped into them. It was Scar.

"What are you doing down here?" Sarabi asked, still looking worried and doe-eyed. Scar looked at Mufasa's wife. Then he said, "Look past the tree." In a sad voice. Sarabi, Sarafina, and Nala stepped forward.

Nala gasped, looking down at Mufasa's mangled body. Sarafina choked in tears, and looked at her best friend Sarabi. Sarabi had a shocked expression on her face. She couldn't even say anyrthing. She was beyond tears. Sarabi limped forward, and nudged Mufasa's face. She sniffed him. "My son," Sarabi choked. "Was in his mouth." Then she turned to Scar. "Where is Simba?" she demanded. Scar sniffed, and fake tears rolled down his cheeks as some hyenas ran away cackling. Sarabi's eyes opened wide. A tear dropped down her cheek. Sarafina licked her, but Sarabi ran away, crying. Sarafina called after Sarabi, and darted after her. Nala was left alone, crying. Scar ran his paw down her back. Nala wedged into Scars paw.
