Chapter 1-

Luna and Mak were good friends as cubs. Mufasa, Luna's father, and Sarafina, Mak's mother, betrothed them at a very young age. Luna is a larger cub, with golden fur and dark piercing red eyes. Mak, is the opposite. Because his mother and father weren't very big, he got their size. In the Pride Lands, Mak is known for his icicle colored eyes.

Here's how Luna came to know Mak.

*************

Luna sat snuggled inside her father's warm, protective, arms one cold night. Sarafina, her mother's best friend, was laying down panting in front of her. Sarabi, Rafiki, Khufu (her mate), and Lyn sat around her. She was panting really heavily, like she had just gotten done with a 5K race.

"Daddy, what's going on?" Luna asked. Mak and Luna were born almost exactly a year apart. So one year old Luna, was experiencing her first birth, and ironically, to the cub she'd be betrothed to. If it was a him. Mufasa looked at his daughter, and smiled.

"Your going to witness the birth of the cub you'll be betrothed to Luna. Do you have any thoughts?" he asked curiously. Luna shook her head.

My thought is that I'll hate this cub. Probably.

Boy was she wrong. About a year after Mak was born, he had left the cave in the early morning, and went to the stream where Lyn and Luna were. Lyn was Mak's sister, only about 1 year older than Luna. So, being 2 and 3, they were playing amongst themselves in the stream. Mak, Luna, and Lyn were the only cubs in the Pride at the time.

"Hey Lyn, look over there?"

Lyn turned around, and was pushed face first in the water.

"GOTCHA!" a voice exclaimed. Luna stifled a scream as a small cub got out of the water. She froze. His eyes were the most beautiful thing she had ever seen in her life. Lyn got up and a scowl crossed her face.

"Makeus! What are you doing out here?!" she exclaimed. "Your not allowed!"

A small smile passed across his face. He walked up into the bank and shook his fur, splashing water everywhere. Luna stared at Mak, really confused and lost. He was one year old, but very adventerous and kind.  She looked at him, and he smiled.

"Aren't you Luna? The daughter of Mufasa?" he asked, cocking his head slightly to the right. Luna smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, I'm Luna. Makeus, your sister is right, you shouldn't be out here, especially alone," she said. "It's too dangerous."

Mak nodded. He turned towards the bushes and began to walk away when Luna realized she shouldn't leave him alone.

"Wait," she called. Mak turned to her, his bright blue eyes sparkling.

"Is there something you need?" he asked. Luna nodded, but then shook her head, as if she was utterly lost.

"Let me walk you back to the Pride. Lyn, can you stay here?" she asked, her friend happily swimming around in the stream.

"Sure." she replied, than dissapeared under the water. Luna turned back to Mak, and they made their way to Pride Rock.

Chapter 2-

The sun had began going down by the time Luna and Mak got back to the cave. Luna looked at Mak, who looked completely and utterly lost. The sky began to dot with orange and pink as Luna helped Mak up the promontory to lay down for a while.

"Mak, how do you like it here?" she asked, stretching out on the smooth rock.

"Pretty good, especially since I met you. Are you good friends with my sister?" he replied, turning to her.

"Eh, I guess. We weren't when you were born. Can I ask you something?" He nodded. "Will you be my friend?"

He grinned.

"I thought you'd never ask. What is your middle name?" he replied, trying to find a comfortable position to lay on the rock. In the distance, Lyn was walking back from the stream with an angry look on her face. Luna took a deep breath.

Tell him Luna, what will it hurt?

"Grace," she replied quickly. "My middle name is Grace."

"MAKEUS! GET IN HERE!" a voice exclaimed. Khufu, Sarafina's mate, ran out of the cave, and grabbed his son by the scruff. Mak squealed and whispered, "Come on." Luna followed Mak inside and laid down next to her mother, who was chatting with Sarafina.

"I wonder," Sarafina whispered to herself. Sarabi eyed her curiously.

"What do you wonder my dear friend?" she asked. Sarafina stared at her blankly.

"I wonder who will be a suitable mate for Lyn. There's no male cubs in the Pride." she said. Sarabi nodded, and smiled.

"There will be two new cubs Sarafina, you know that," she said. Sarafina nodded.

"K is going away on a hunting trip for Mufasa," she said, beginning to lick Makeus. "He told me if he doesnt come back, if I have my cub early, to name it. If it is a girl, Nala, if it is a boy, Kuno." she said. Sarabi nodded, as if she under stood this.

"Me and Mufasa have not decided the boys name. But I've got a pretty good idea of one." she said, than she stifled a scream when she noticed Luna laid down next to her.

"Luna Grace!," she exclaimed, breathing heavily. "How long have you been there?"

Luna blushed. "About ten minutes," then her blushing turned to a scowl. "When were you going to tell me you were pregnant?"

Sarabi blinked.

"We werent going to tell you yet," she replied. "Come on Luna, it's time for a bath."

******************************* (9 years later)

Luna woke up next to her father in the early summer morning. She was a eleven year old lioness now, just 2 years until she could go for her first hunt, with the Pride of course. Luna moved closer to her father and began to doze off when her mother woke her up.

"Dont worry Luna. Going to get a drink, I wont be long." she said, her eyes full of sadness. Her previous cub she had been pregnant with had been still born. Now, Luna wasn't sure if she had been pregnant again. Sarafina? Same thing.

Luna began to doze off when she was awoken by Mak. He was staring at her with those eyes again, like he had for years. Mak was 10 now, just beginning to grow a longer black mane.

"Good morning Grace," he said. "Ready?"

"Good morning Makeus," she giggled. "Ready for what?"

Mak frowned and a low growl settled in his throat.

"DON'T CALL ME THAT!" he hissed. "I though we agreed you wouldn't call me my full name."

"PH, yeah," she snorted. "That was when I was 6 and you were 5."

"Still," he replied. "Let's go. I need a drink."

Luna stood up and ran with Mak to the base of the cave, trying to dodge any lionesses sleeping in random places. Luna did a somersault over a lioness and landed right at the mouth of the cave, an awe-strucken Mak staring at her.

"What?" she asked. Mak shook his head.

"Nothing," he whispered. "Let's go."

Luna and Mak began to run when a voice beckoned for her.

"Luna! Makeus!" a voice bellowed. Mufasa stood up inside the cave and padded over to them.

"Where are you going?" he asked. Mak gave her a pleading look, and she sighed.

Just tell him Luna, what will it hurt?

"The watering hole Daddy," she said, nuzzling her father. Mufasa gave a strong nod and walked back into the cave. The morning wind swept through Mak's mane as they ran to the watering hole, giggling hysterically.

**************

The two cubs ran to the watering hole, and Mak almost had a heart attack when Luna collapsed on a large smooth rock.

"LUNA!" he exclaimed. He rolled her on her back, and growled as he saw she was still laughing. He walked over and began to drink from the water. Luna stopped laughing and stared at him, panting like she had just ran a hundred miles.

Luna, after this, you should take him to the Elephant GraveYard. Ask Uncle Scar about it.

Luna sat and thought for a while. The hot morning sun was just beginning to heat up, so she went over and began to drink from the cool, crystaline water. A few feet to her right, Mak was slurping annoyingly. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched him. About ten minutes later, he got up, his ear pricked back.

"What?" she asked.

"Antelope, far side. Hunting position 4." he whispered. Luna crouched down and took off to the other side, looking at Mak, waiting for his signal. He looked at her and nodded. Than the 2 of them cornered the antelope and Mak tore out it's throat.

"Hey, let's take this somewhere the Pride huntresses will find it, so they'll think they found a dead animal."  Luna said, helping Mak put the dead animal on his back. She did and took a glance at him, he looked exhausted so much that the animal looked like it was to much for him.

"Mak, do you want me to take that for you?" she asked. Mak turned to her, his face contorted to show he looked offended.

"No!" he lied. "I'm fine. hey there's a place right there." He pointed to a large rock the Huntresses usually passed by. Luna gently rolled the antelope on the rock and turned to Mak.

"Hey, why don't you go to Pride Rock. I have to take care of...." She thought about the right word. "Business with my uncle."

Mak's face was priceless. Horrified, he cocked his head at her.

"Scar?!" He exclaimed, shaking his head with shame. "He's a maniac!"

Luna this time looked offended. She did have some love for her
