Hello, its good to that some people are interested in my fanfic.

I understand that Scar and his father, mother etc etc have already been given official names, and of course they are used over and over again in fanfics. I;ve found (no offence to anyone) that these fanfics pretty much follow the same plot, and so I found myself making my own version, that doesn't really  follow the other fan fics.

Of course, this is just a 'What If?' Fanfiction. I personally have another version of Scar and Mufasa's childhood, one that I actually believe in (of course, its not cannon). Certain events in my story will end up contradicting the behaviour of real lions, as well the original film itself, so please keep and open mind, and try not to moan or whine about something that may have been said in the films, or tell me that it cannot happen since lions don't behave that way.

Please remember, that this fanfic is not completed, and I would appreciate it if you would come back now and again to check for updates.

Thankyou for reading this brief introduction, and I hope you'll enjoy this story.

____________________________________________________________________________________

Was it fair, that I was shoved aside by my own father? Was it fair, that my chance of being king was snatched away from me? Of course not. I've never had the lion's share. I was Prince Akili, but no one calls me that anymore. I'm Scar, nothing more than a mere shadow.
I was to rule the Pridelands, once I became of age. But he got in the way. He ruined everything.

It was mid-summer, when the sun was so strong that it baked the earth to a crisp. Everytime that season come, and the sun reached the peak of its power, it would dry up the Great River, WaterHole, the plants, the earth. Everywhere it could reach. This just made things much more miserable for me.

My father, Mzee, was often away when ever the animals fought over the last few gallons of water in the streams and rivers that were not dried up.
He wasn't a large lion, but he was very smart, and often used his intelligence to solve situations. Mzee had a dark brown mane, a brown as dark as a tree trunk, with dark brown-orange fur and sharp blue eyes. I was often told I looked a lot like him, except he was a little more broader.

Because I was a young cub, who was only a few moon-cycles old, I had to stay near PrideRock with my mother, until I was trusted enough to be left alone for a while.  My mother's name Latifah, because she was so kind and gentle. She was small for a lioness, with small delicate paws and a long lean body. She was more golden-brown, with small, caring green eyes.

My father was returning, with his major-domo, Liyongo, a hoopoe who never had learned to keep his beak shut. The king had just been out breaking up more fights. I was getting bored of this, he was always away. Father never had any time for me. Breaking promise after promise.
"The Crocodiles never stop do they...?" Mzee sighed, sitting down in front of my mother and I.

"You know Bausi and his tribe, Sire." Liyongo babbled, "They'll use any excuse to pick a fight...-"
The useless bird begn to talk about some useless, boring things. Things that no one would find intresting. Not even Rafiki, who was known for his strange riddles and ramblings. I didn't understand why my father was friends with such a stange creature. I alway thought he was senile. But he was old, and a baboon. So it doesn't suprise anyone much.

"Hopefully they won't cause any more trouble. Summer will come to end soon, and there will be no more fights." My mother said, nuzzling my father affectionatly.
I lifted my ears at that, hope rushing through me like a wave.

"Do you think you can show me the Kingdom tomorrow, Dad?" I asked him, nudging his leg with my nose, "You said you would!"

My father's face shifted towards me, he gaze was soft. "Maybe, if no fights break out. I can't promise anything!" he added, when I had jumped up excitedly.

---

I awoke early the next day, hoping father would take me to the summit. It was the top-most place of pride rock, and you could see the whole of the lands from up there. Well, that was what my mother had told me.

I walked silently out of the gaping, dark cave of the Rock, and sat outside for a while. I knew Mzee would not be pleased if I woke him before the sun was even up.
I opened my jaws wide, breathing in the morning air.
"Akili!" I heard my mother call, after a few minutes of sitting outside. I rolled my eyes, she was far too protective. "I'm coming mother!" I grunted back, a hint of annoyance in my voice.

I trotted back into the den casully, and noticed that my father was awake. Maybe I would actually go to the summit this time.
"Are you ready?" he asked, once I was close enough.
"I was ready weeks ago." I snorted sourly.

My father ignored me, he was used to my behaviour. It wasn't my fault that he never wanted to spend time with me. Being king was far more important. This made me angry right down to the bone.
"Lets go." Mzee said, nudging me out of the cave and onto the narrow, winding path that lead up to the summit.
Despite my bitter mood, I couldn't help but be cheerful. I danced around my father's legs happily, with hardly a care in the world. I could hear my mother behind us, calling out her worries and warnings.
"Don't stray too near the edge! And listen to everything your father tells you!"

I couldn't be bothered to reply, I was too happy to care. I had been waiting weeks for this, and I hoped it would be worth the wait.

But I definatly wasn't prepared for the climb.
I kept my mouth shut and swallowed my annoyance. "Never show weakness." my father had once said to me, and I took those words to heart.

We were there, after an hour or so of climbing. I couldn't help but letting out a sigh of relief. We were there.
