One day, everything was misty. There seemed to be a storm coming. Lono walked to Kovu. "Dad, can me and Milo go out to play?" Kovu hesitated. "Okay. But if it starts raining then come back." Kovu answered. "We will!" Lono and Milo at the same time. Timon was inside. He didn't fell well "Hey, Lono, I know of a wonderful place. "Where?" Lono asked. Milo smiled. "The gourge." Lono froze. "You mean the place where Mufasa died?" Milo noded. "What shall we do?" Milo paused. "Maybe we could play Mufasa's death. But not to be mean. To remind  everyone about him." Milo grinned. "Yeah! It would be so much fun! Can I be Scar? His mane is sooo thin!" Lono starred at Milo. "Okay." he said before bursting out laughing.

Lono ran across the gourge, picking up nothing, but he pretended it was Simba. He sat it down. He flew himself back into the gourge. Then he jumped back on. He climbed up. "Scar... brother..... help me!" Milo just looked down. Then he grabbed his paws, and smiled. "Long.. live.. the king!" Then threw him off. Lono landed on a rock, unharmed. "That was soo cool!" Lono said as he Milo got down. "Yeah. it was." Then he raised his head. It was a stampede! "Not the wildebeast..." Milo said. It wasn't. "Antelope!!" Lono shouted. They both darted in the oppesite direction. "Be careful what you wish for!!" Milo said. "For real!" Lono agreed. Then it started to rain. "We can't out run them!" Milo said. Lono realized he was right. "How will Dad save us?" Lono asked. All of a sudden they heard a faint cry. "Lono! Milo!" Lono knew it was Kovu!

"How are we going to get to him?" Milo asked. Back at Pride Rock, where they heard the really faint shout, Kovu was yelling for them. "Kovu, where are they? You don't think they could be.. in the outlands?" Kovu shook his head. "They can't be in the outlands. They don't know about it yet." Kiara started to cry. "Milo's not mine, but he is my little brother. Milo and Lono.. we have to find them Kovu!" "I know.. and we will." Kovu said, nuzzling her. "Zazu, let's find them." he said. "Yes, sire." They went to the SAME SPOT that Mufasa was when Scar told Mufasa th news.  "Look, sire, the herd is on the move." "Odd.." Kovu turned around. "Wait, sire, is that two cubs?" Kovu spun around. "Milo! Lono!" he said. Zazu flew up. He turned around. "Oh, no! I'll go get help! Maybe Scar won't slap me this time!" he said as he flew to get Simba and Kiara.

"Two cubs... I've got to save them!" Kovu muttered, thinking of a way to save two cubs. He jumped down. He saw that hey were hanging off of a tree branch. "Mufasa... Simba..." He shook his head. "Everything is gonna be okay." He said and lunged tword them, gebbing both of them- by their tails. "Dad! Ow." "Sorry." Kovu mumbled.  He sat them down. He let out a roar of pain. He was being dragged back in! "Dad!" Lono shouted. Kovu jumped on the same cliff Mufasa did. He dragged himself upward. He looked up- Vitani. "Vitani..sister... help me!" Kovu said. "Hang on!" Vitani said. She tried to reach him. Sadly, he slipped and fell into the herd.Kovu coughed. I can't die, he thought, the cubs will need me. He staggerd up. The antelope cleared now. He was trying to get up. "Ouch." He said and fell back down. I need help. He cound't talk right now. He closed his eyes. Kovu began to brethe. He shook his head. Nobody came. He slowly laid there.

Finally, Simba came down. "Kovu, are you okay?" I can't talk... Insted he noded. And Simba smiled and carried him back. Kiara rushed over with Simba as soon as she saw them. "Is he okay?" she asked. Simba noded, and Kiara nuzzled both of them. As they walked back, Lono and Milo dragged behind. When they got back, Kovu maneged to get himself up. "Milo, Lono, can I talk to you two outside?" Kovu asked. They gulped and walked behind him.

"How did you two get over there?" Kovu asked. By the sound of his voice he wasn't that mad. This realaxed them. "We wanted to play. We thought that since Grampa banned the wildebest it would be okay." Kovu sighed. "Did ot ever occur to you that there are antelope in the pridelands?" Lono sighed. "No."  "What did you two do there?" Kovu asked. Milo gulped. "We.... we.. we imatated Mufasa's death." Milo said. Kovu looked like he could slap them bothem, but then he calmed down. "Mufasa was a wise king. You shouldn't have took the scene of his death and played with it." Lono shook his head. "We were only doing it to remind lions of him." Kovu looked at him. "What other lions were with you?" Kovu asked. No reponse. "I didn't think so. Milo, because of my relationship with you, I won't tell Simba about it. If he knew what you were doing..." Kovu stopped. "Thanks, Kovu. We really are sorry." Kovu smiled. "I know you are." "But, we tried not to be scared. Kings don't have any fears, right Kovu?" Milo asked. "Of course we have fears! Today I had fear." "Of what?" Lono asked. "I thought I was going to lose you two." Lono stood back. "So I guess kings sometimes get scared, too." Kovu noded. "But, sometimes, kings and fathers have to face their fears. This is called courage. Mufasa had courge. He threw his life away for Simba! If it wasn't for that, Simba would be dead!" Lono sighed. "So you had courage, too. Right, dad?" Kovu noded. "Of course I did! You didn't think the bravest lion ever  didn't have courage?" Milo and Lono laughed.

"On, no dad! We knew you had couage!" Lono said, nipping his ear. Then Milo bit his tail. "Kovu laughed. "Is that all you got?" Kovu said. He ran, and Lono tackled him. "Dad, we're pals, right?" Lono asked Kovu. "And We'll always be together, right?" Milo asked. "Cubs, let me tell you somthing Mufasa told Simba and Scar told me, when he wasn't angry. Look at the stars. the great kings of the past look down on us from those stars. Watching over us, protecting us, and loving us. One day I will join them, like Mufasa did." "And Scar?" Lono asked. "Well, Scar was a terrible king who only cared about being 'king.' To him, being king ment bulling others,  getting his way, and telling people what to do." Lono sighed. "I don't uderstand." Kovu chuckled. "One day you will." Simba sighed. He had been watching them. He remembered when he and his father played together. "Father, now that I gaind Kovu's trust, can I trust Lono, too? Ah, who am I kidding! Lono wouldn't hurt a flea. Still, acting out your death is very rough. Oh, well. They're only cubs.I guess I can forgive them."

"I'm hungry! The lionesses caught a zebra!" Kovu told the two cubs. "Yeah! Let's go eat!"

Suddenly, three hyeans jumped out. "Shenzi, Bazai, and Ed!" Kovu growled. Shenzi smirked. "Kovu... we are hungry.. I see behind your paws what would make a very good meal!" she said. Kovu growled again. "As if!" he shouted. Banzai growledd too. "Gimme the cubs and we'll leave. Simple as that!" "No!!" "Alright! Ed.. do you think we should rip Kovu apart, eat the cubs-" Bazai thought for a moment. "-and kill Simba?" Ed noded his head up and down really fast. Kovu let out a roar. "Cubs... run back to Pride Rock!" "Wait, our foods gettin away!" Banzai complained. Kovu dove on them.

Milo ran as fast as he could. Then he stoped when he heard Kovu roar of pain. He stopped. He turned around. "Lono, Kovu really needs our help." Lono snarled, "He told us to get back." "But he said that sometimes lions have to put fears behind them. We need courage." Lono walked beside Milo "You're right. Let's go!"    Milo came first and took down Ed. Lono followed and took down Banzai.  They fought and fought. Kovu came down.  Ed was such an esay target that Milo moved on to the hardest of all- Shenzi. They fought some more.
