Chapter one: the birth and the name

A loud roar of pain was heard in the out lands, in the small kingdom that belonged to Shian; to be exact, the Orian Borders. Shian was going to be a father! Another roar, louder than the one before, was heard and a male lion, Mahkui, a Prince from a very small kingdom many moons away, came trotting up beside the worried father-to-be. "Hello, sire. Congratulations on the cub, by the way. Nervous?" The king gave a small laugh -a nervous laugh, of course- "Are you kidding me, Mahkui? I couldn't be more nervous if i TRIED!" "Well, Sire, i wouldn't worry that much about it,since Siani is a strong young lioness, and if there are problems, Rolfai is there to aid her." " Y...Y..Yes, of...of course. the...the midwife. But what about the cub? I've seen newborns before, so much could happen, I.."

The loud roaring stopped suddenly, as if someone had stuck a paw into the lioness's mouth. A dark gray lioness, Rolfai, popped her head out, and announced "A boy! A beautiful, gorgeous healthy prince! You can come in now, King Shian."  "My mate? Is she..." Rolfai smiled " She's fine. Why don't you see for yourself?" As she stepped aside to let him through, Shian caught a glimpse of his mate licking something-furry?-in her paws, and when he got a little closer, she turned her paws ever so little to show him a beautiful orange cub. Shian let out a gasp "He.. He's so little! And beautiful... and-" "Now, now, my mate, we want to save the spoiling for LATER, wasn't that what we agreed?" Siani laughed quietly, her laughter bouncing off the walls of the cave like a frog off of lily pads.  "What should we name him?" she asked next. "Hmmm... Mohawk?" the king suggested. She shook her head.  "Okay... err... Carte? No?  Alright... what about Sahhrankino?" "Name him that? i cant even PRONOUNCE that!" the Queen exclaimed with a irritated chuckle. "How about something NORMAL, dear? Something like.. oh, I don't know... Mohadden?" "Little gentle one? Mohadden? Hmm...Yeah, i like it." "Alright...Mohadden" Siani said as Mohadden cooed. "My little gentle one... Mohadden."

Chapter two: reason for living in the outlands

Shian sighed, yet another hunting party with no luck. This was getting bad, very bad indeed. Though he had started skipping meals so that his mate and son,now nearly a month old, could get food, he knew he had to eat sometime, for though he had been teaching his son everything and anything about being a king in the outlands, he knew it would be probably another two years before his son could even think about actually assuming the throne; and yet... it seemed like only yesterday the king had gazed upon his newly born sons' face. Shian sighed, Oh, if only his grandparents hadn't moved out of the pride lands when Scar became king! Oh, sure, he'd heard the horror stories his grandparents had told of, of how Scar had never wanted the actual pride, only wanted the power. Of how he had never truly forgave his brother Mufasa for scarring him that day as a cub.

On one occasion, Shian himself had heard of Scars's death, and how, if his parents had not had him, who had been but two weeks old, they would have traveled back, although it was not only himself that kept his parents, but the fact that neither his mother nor father had been born when the grandparents had taken liberty and left pride rock, and by the time Scar died, both grandmother and grandfather were long gone, and Shian had had no way of proving who he was, and when those horrid outlanders had been banished a week after Scar's death, things got worse, for  by that time, the once gold coats had been torched by the sun, and had bleached Shian's beautiful mud brown coat and mane to a dusty-brown-tan, and they all had gone such extreme coat changes that they knew they would easily be mistaken for those disgusting, WORTHLESS, exiled outsiders, and all knew they would all be killed, although they had done no wrong.  "Ahh, well, no use in crying about it now" Shian said to nobody in particular, then  headed for the small cave to rest a bit before it was time for his son to start training to be the king.

*** NOTE- NOBODY IN THIS PRIDE KNEW ABOUT THE OUTLANDERS JOINING THE PRIDE-LANDERS, AS THEY DID THEIR BEST TO STAY AS FAR AS POSSIBLE FROM DISGUSTING REJECTS LIKE THE OUTSIDERS ***

Chapter three: Tragedy

"Heh heh heh...what do ya know? I'm the first to wake up.." Mohadden chuckled to himself as he heard his parents' snore as dawn began to break over the horizon. "Early to bed, early to rise makes a king healthy, stealthy and wise." Carefully, Mohadden stepped over his sleeping parents and the other lioness's, making his way out of the cave.  "I know dad's rule is to make sure at least one lioness knows where i am, but it's so early, and i wanna have some fun... aw, well, it's early enough that no one'd be hunting or anything anyway. And I'll be back before anyone even knows I'm gone."  Mohadden said as he snuck off out of sight. If only he had known just how wrong he was...

"Hmmm...I'm not entirely sure i know where i am." Mohadden said a little while later. "Oh, wait... this is where Zerena lives! Momma doesn't trust her. I guess I'd better leave." But no longer had the cub spoken than: "Well, wee one, you just got here. And i would like for you to stay." The young prince swiveled around to face Zerena, who got up and stretched, showing her huge teeth. "Come, Mohadden. Lets..." she cackled "play"  Quickly Mohadden remembers one of his fathers lessons"Never let your enemy sense fear- that will not go in your favor" So, the young lion quickly bowed his head in respect to the evil lioness and began to back away from her, saying calmly with a noble tone "Thank you very much for the tempting invite, Missus Zeafrah, but Mother and Father are to be worried if I don't return home soon, and I shan't allow that, so if you beg my pardon, i shall get with you another time, alright,Ma'am?" Zerena pulled back, flabbergasted, and then began to crack up with hysterics at his little speech. While she literally rolled across the ground, Mohadden took the chance and ran as fast as he could, but she stopped mid-laugh and chased him for about five seconds, quickly grabbing him and with an evil grin as bad as Scar's,She held him down with one paw and with the other unsheathed her claws, placing them to his throat. Mohadden braced himself as the claws went up... and never came down.

"GET YOUR DIRTY, STINKING PAWS OFF MY SON" Siani roared as she slammed into Zerena in a fit of rage. Standing protectively over Mohadden, the lioness growled a growl of pure fury, and when Zerena got up and lunged, Siani met her opponent halfway, claws unsheathed; a very rare sight on the even tempered lioness. Mohadden watched in horror as they tumbled time and time again, each for the other's blood. It seemed like an eternity had passed when Siani finally got up and tossed Zerena's limp body aside. He thought all was fine. "Momma!" he shouted with joy as he ran to her side.

Siani was heavily bleeding from the side, and she crumbled as her small son skidded to a stop in front of her. "Mo...mo..Mohadden.. get away from here.. back to your father, tell him what happened...and that i love him..."

"No, oh MOMMA! Oh, momma, no; come on get up, you've got to go with me... Please Mommy, get up.. you've got to don't leave meee... " The orange lion cubs pleas had now grown to a full fledged wail of protest to his dying mother

"Oh, Mohadden.. wee one... it won't be so bad... Your father will let you help rule, and when you become full king, you, my gentle baby, will be.. the... finest king on earth... and perhaps grander than the ones above.  My sweet, innocent baby boy... Remember always, that the great kings and queens of the past look down on us from those stars, so whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings and queens will always be there to guide you… and so will i."

"No..." Mohadden gasped as he watched the light leave his mothers' eyes. Then he glanced up at the sky, which still held a few fading stars in its grasp. "Oh, no... give her back! You don't need her! Let her be! It's not fair... She's mine! Go kill some other queen and take her! My mommy needs to be with me! I need to be with heeeerr..." And then he began to sob, knowing it was no use, and snuggled under her massive paws, sobbing as his father came into view.

"Siani... my wife... WHAT HAVE YOU DONE,MOHADDEN???? MURDERER... You.. you... " Mohadden gasped as his father came to the scene, took one look at Siani, and hurled his paw at his son, snarling in anger. "How could you???"  "Uhhh." Mohadden rasped as down came the claws again. And then, after several swipes more, and Mohadden's neon orange body turned crimson, Shian paused, and the crazed look in his eyes went away and turned to horror. "Oh. My.. Mohadden, my son. Forgive me for this... I didn't mean to... Oh my boy..."

"It... It's alright dad. It didn't... didn't hurt much anyway."  Then as the rest of the pride came and mourned over Siani's body, Shian watched his son and rage began to build, a dangerous rage capable of unspeakable things.

Day after day, Mohadden was
