What if Kovu was bad - contest entry
Here is my entry for the contest, but as I love this picture so much I am posting it here with a description as to the events that led up to this moment.

The plan was going well. Kovu had rescued Kiara from the fire and Simba had to let him into the Pride. Zira smiled. Soon, all would be within her grip!
A couple of days later, Kovu managed to escape the Pridelanders and he went and saw Vitani.
"Vitani!" he whispered. "You can't attack Pride Rock!"
"Fallen in love with Kiara, have we?" joked Vitani.
"No!" Kovu shouted back. "It's just, we won't be able to win. I know we have the better fighters, but the Pridelanders have strength from food and their health is high. But I have come up with a plan that will allow us to win."
"Whatever it is, mum's not going to like having a change to her plan."
"She will when she knows she will win! Here it is: I fall in love with Kiara and be as good as I can be on Pride Rock whilst you and the other Outlanders gather together and form an excuse as to why you have suddenly changed your mind."
"Changed our minds about what?" asked Vitani.
"About how you feel towards the Pridelanders. You actually like them and you forgive them for the death of Scar. You want to help them hunt and fight. You want to learn about living under a male's rule. The most important thing to remember is that you have to let them welcome you as they welcomed me."
"Are we including mother in this?"
"Yes. She's a good actress, she can behave sorry. The next part is to live peacefully with the Pridelanders for a while, gain their trust. As we fit in we eat better, get more water and our health and strength improves. As we will learn more fighting skills, we know how the Pridelanders fight. Therefore, we can defeat them in battle."
Vitani licked Kovu's cheek.
"Mum's not going to like it - I don't even like it - but it will help us get revenge for Scar!"
Later that night, Vitani went and told Zira the plan. Kovu and Vitani were right - Zira didn't like it one bit - but she saw Kovu was right and that it had to be done.
In a couple of months, the Outlanders were living happily with the Pridelanders. They had gained their trust and forgiveness and were becoming stronger and healthier. One night, Kovu told his mother that all was ready. they could fight as soon as possible!
A few nights later, Zira crept slowly out of the cave in which everyone slept. It was a misty night atop Pride Rock - perfect. Inside she gave Kovu the signal and then talked Timon and Pumbaa into coming outside with her. She led them to a remote area in the Pridelands and told them to run or she would kill them. Timon and Pumbaa stood firm - they weren't going anyway without Simba. Zira roared and showed her teeth. Away Timon and Pumbaa ran, right into a den of hyenas, some of the only ones that remained after Scar's death. Pleased with her work she returned to Pride Rock.
Kovu had been busy. Sarabi had obviously woken up and saw Zira lead Timon and Pumbaa away and wondered what was going on, but never got to find out. There she lay, on the side of Pride Rock, limp and unmoving.
As Zira entered the cave, she noticed the Outlanders pretending to sleep, just like the plan said. She also lay down, shutting her eyes but keeping her ears open to hear Kovu and Simba.
Kovu got up as soon as Zira lay down. He went over to Simba and gently whispered in the King's ear.
"Simba?"
Simba's eyes opened and he noticed Kovu looking worried.
"What is it Kovu? It's the middle of the night."
"I had a dream and it scared me. Can I talk to you?"
Simba sighed and then got up wearily. They walked to the tip of Pride Rock.
"What was your dream about Kovu?"
Kovu faced down as if her was upset, but a huge smile crept across his face.
"It was about... killing you!"
With that, he swiped Simba across the face and leapt onto his back. Simba roared and called everyone to fight. However, the Outlanders, having already been awake, were already at an advantage.
The fight lasted a long time. It had spread from inside Pride Rock right onto the savannah below. Kovu was still fighting Simba. It was an even match until Kovu launched himself into the belly of Simba and knocked him clean off Pride Rock.

This is where the story ends. I would just like to make it clear that the fighting poses were referenced from pictures of real lions fighting, but altered in order to make them different.

Thank you everyone! It means a lot to me! Jolteon - Sarabi was older and was taken by surprise. She didn't really stand a chance against the Outlanders. Sarafina only made it by running (as she is in the picture). As for the program I used it was GIMP. It is free to download and it a Photoshop equivalent. I find it easier to use. If you would like any tips then please feel free to ask! |

This is amazing. It really is :D I could just imagine this happening
to the prides. Oooh hoooo Kovu how clever are you?! X3 What an evil
thought out plan. I am shocked that poor old Sarabi went so quick DX. Oh well at least Timon and Pumba will live on x3. Zira is sooo mean, I don't get her problem DX. Anyways like I said nice job lion! Congratulations on the must see too! I bet you'll get a good result on the 'what if Kovu was evil?' ( it is that right?) competetion. May I ask what programs you use Becuase this seems like an excellent program to use if you want to draw pictures of the lion king characters. Many thanks. |
