"~Don't hold back~!" Zira said as Nuka and Kovu circled. "~Look for an opening!~"
Nuka and Kovu fought and fought, with Nuka staying on top. Five minutes into the training, Nuka held his claws up, cornering Kovu. He almost brought his claws down. Almost. But he knew his mother would kill him. He gave a small sigh, then got up. Zira bounded up. He glanced at her and gave a proud smile.
"~Mother how was that?~" She glanced at him and snarled angrily, but her eyes... they showed true pride. Love. And... regret. "~Horrid. Kovu, you get up and try it with Dina. Now. And you, leave my sight.~"
Nuka was shocked. He raced away into the cave. A few minutes later, Zira entered the cave. ~"Something wrong, Queen Zira?"~ Frein asked. ~Oh, it's just Nuka. I hate treating him so. But I just can't get close to him, I can't...~ Frein nodded. ~It's hard, I know. When I lost Aster, I never wanted to see my daughter again. I never spoke, unless it was words of hate. When i finally realized how much i truly cared for her, it was too late... she was dead. Don't wait for that, Zira. Don't wait until it's too late, don't wait until your chances are gone. Treat Nunka as your equal, for he tries far more to please you than the others. Love him Zira, for one day he'll be gone. And so will your chance. I may be old, my Queen, but no longer am I stupid.~ Zira was quiet for a moment. ~You may be right, Frein. However, after I've treated him like that for so long, who says he will accept me? And... I am not sure i even remember how to love. At least, I don't remember how to show it.~
