You Give Love A Bad Name

Otis picked up the stringed instrument, the mic not too far away from where he stood. Below the stage sat many animals, all anticipating his response to the question ‘How do you feel about Beren?’ On the stage itself, his drummers stood, awaiting his signal. He could hear Beren approaching from behind, and so he cleared his throat and let out a “Hit it, bird!” to the drummer birds on the bright stage. The beat began, and with it the crowd erupted into cheers. “Otis?” Came the confused tone of the love of his life, who still had no idea how much she meant to him.
“Shot through the heart! And you’re to blame- Darling you give love, a BAD NAME.” And the crowd shouted the words with him, the elephants creating a symphony of their own. “An Angel’s smile is what you sell, you promised me heaven than put me through hell!” And he dove as he sang this, stringing the guitar. “I promised you nothing” Beren muttered as he continued. “Chains of love, go a hold on me, when passion’s a prison you can’t break free-“
“Oh whoa” the crowd cheered. “You’re a loaded gun!” Otis pointed at Beren, “I’m a lion.” She countered in a whisper. “Whoa! There’s no where to run, no one can save me the damage is done!” And he clutched at his heart, earning him looks of sympathy from his audience. “What damage? Are you okay??” Beren asked, trying to make her way around him.
“Shot through the heart, and you’re to blame! You give love, a bad name! I play my part, and you play your game, you give love a BAD NAME....oooh you give love.......a bad name.”
“You paint your smile on your lips-“
“I can’t paint”
“- Blood red nails on your fingertips...a school boy’s dream, you act so shy, your very first kiss was your first kiss goodbye!” Beren seemed a bit disturbed. “Otis we’re LIONS...we can’t kiss. Do you need to lie down? Should I go get Rafiki?”
And on and on it went until the end of the song, with the crowd of animals cheering Otis and Beren looking a little pale.
