The Death of Asabi
And following from 'An Offer of Friendship', we see another milestone in Selfish's life - his victory over his sister, whom he had a lasting rivalry with.
Now, things weren't always like this for them. In fact, Asabi doesn't remember that Selfish is her brother, but he remembers who she is (the reason for this is that Asabi was separated from her brothers at a young age). However, he never told her that they were related.
After Thema's death at a young age, Selfish begins to make trouble for Mohatu and his pride. Asabi, being a sort of bodyguard and enforcer for Mohatu, takes Selfish's offenses to heart, and whenever the two meet on the field, they're bound to clash. Their encounters are violent, but never fatal.
However, Selfish manages to subdue Asabi and kill her after a very nasty encounter. This leads to Mohatu's exile of him, and Tanglemane tracking him down and killing him to avenge Asabi's death.

Brown - Haha, there are no limits to cruelty for our characters! xD
And I agree, if Mohatu had a different view on things, he would've
most certainly have killed Selfish. However, in spite of his brother's
evil deed, the only reason he doesn't kill Selfish is because Selfish
is his brother, and they had grown up together while they lived with
Joe. |

Happy stories are too... well, HAPPY! Stories with agony and character
development are always the best, and this one is where it's at! I love the story behind this one, though I do feel bad for Asabi, her dying at the paws of her own brother and such, but even Selfish was bound to do something stupid and feel the wrath of Mohatu, and Selfish's banishment was purely justified. Though, I think if Mohatu were a different kind of lion, he'd have killed Selfish, brother or no. Yeah, I'm cruel like that  |
