It Was the Past
Based on a discussion Claire and I had.
Even though Nyako truly does love Jiro, I doubt that Jiro would feel too secure in his relationship with her. After all, had Kayode lived, she would've chosen him over Jiro. Not to mention that Nyako did have a mate (albeit against her choice) when she was younger. So here's Nyako trying to convince Jiro that she does love him, and him just kind of being insecure about it.
